Toews has complete control over where he goes and the Avs aren't going to be interested in giving up major assets to get someone like him. So, it's either a much lower price or they don't bother. They definitely aren't sending this year's 1st for Toews.

Leafs have no interest in either player imo, and at that price absolutely no interest:
1/ Holl > Murphy & Murphy has 4 more years at $4.4M grimace
2/ Domi is nowhere near worth a first + prospect tears of joy

Get Lafreniere on the Kane deal, MTL will give you a top 15 pick for him.

MTL could also retain on Kane and even Toews.

Those teams won't trade their only first this year for those guys but maybe their 2024 first, Domi won't return a first but maybe a second for 2024.

I would bet $100 domi is a leaf, Kane is on nyr nyi or njd and Toews to Colorado is looking safe too they look like they need some help scoring and Toews can still finish the job and cause problems for other teams that creates scoring

Sure, Dallas does that; especially if Gurianov is still away from the team come the deadline.

Ranger GM would just laugh and hang up. But feel free to send Slafkovsky and a couple 1st rounders to the Hawks for a Kane rental.

Yeah i know, i made an ACGM about it. I had Xhekaj going to NYR with Kane 75% retained for Lafreniere. Kane was extending for cheap. It was still a hard no from NYR fans.

In case you didn't know, rentals are worth more because salary retention help lower their cap hit, and teams acquiring them pay more because they want to win now.

My thought process in a Kane for Lafreniere trade is : If Kane is worth two 1st at trade deadline, would NYR prefer to give that or Lafreniere?

I know the answer is probably you don't want to pay that price for Kane, but if you had to choose, what would you do? Two late 1st or Lafreniere?

NEITHER, because there is ALWAYS another choice. A Kane rental isn't worth any of the teams young players or 2 first round picks, so Chicago can trade him elsewhere.

Florida paid a 1st and a former top 10 pick for Giroux, who's worth less than Kane. So Kane is worth two 1st if we're talking trade deadline market value.

Maybe you don't want your team to pay that price, but someone will, and it could be the NYR since they got the pieces needed, Kane's been linked to them, and they need RW

I asked you politely if you'd rather see them pay the asked price or Lafreniere. Too bad if you don't want to answer.

A Kane rental is worth different things to different teams. Not worth it to the Rangers. I did answer....NO on LAFFY and NO on 2 1sts.

NYR are a win-now team on a short cup window, why wouldn't they go all in on Kane?

No, they are not. They are still a young team just ending a rebuild and have some time to keep building and getting the kids experience. The Islanders are a win now team. The Maple Leafs are a win now team. The Rangers just started their climb last season and have some time, so no need to throw away top talent for a Kane rental. The answer is NO THANKS no matter how you slice it.

Look at the Claude Giroux return.... you're getting something more like that than the Stone trade.
