Trying to find a way to keep Heinola in the lineup

Created by: Benzino204

Description
Of course every Jets fan wants JT. We have a backlog at defense, so why not add Schmitty in a deal with less retention? Because of Schmidt's contract the Jets sacrifice a second round pick. Maybe Chicago can flip Schmidt in the offseason or next season. He can provide veteran leadership to Chicago.

Just a thought here.

Schmidt and Stanley should be the pieces that go, to fit in Heinola and Samberg permanently.

I would think Chicago would like to retain as much as possible to get the best return.
I also don't think that's enough to get him

Take out Chibrikov, Harkins and Schmidt. A 2023 3rd without retention or a 2024 2nd for half retained. Thats it, that's the trade. If that doesn't get him, fine, spend assets elsewhere. WPG's window is closing, they need a true top 6 winger to push them over, not Once-Upon-a-Toews.

As for Ville, waive Capo and trade Stan. Cycle him in with Samberg. Not sure i'd rely on both of them at the same time for playoffs.

Probably not enough for Toews regardless of the retention amount.

Gotta think it'd take more then just a 2nd to dump Schmidt, his contract isn't good and no team is doing another one any favors. Really can't see Schmidt going anywhere until maybe the last season of his contract plus he's got some trade protection and probably prefers being in Winnipeg compared to some other locales.

Samberg has been pretty sketchy this season especially lately, not sure he should be a permanent in the lineup just yet.

Why would Montreal move anything for a LHD prospect?! We already have more than almost every other team in the league

Idk, probably the same reason Habs fans send the Jets middling LHD prospects in PLD trades when thats the last thing the Jets need.

Well so much for finding a way to keep Heinola in the lineup, he's skating on the 4th pair with Capobianco at practice today.

Schmidt is in a full contact jersey on the 3rd pair with Samberg.

Too much for a player the Jets don't need at all in Toews. The Jets find have the depth to add one marginal roster piece at the expense of two good pieces.

It will likely cost a 2nd at a minimum just to move Schmidt, that's a bad contract at almost $6M per year.

Harkins doesn't have much value.

Chibrikov is a fairly good prospect; although I wouldn't say his value has increased from his 2nd round draft position.

Toews at half retained costs in the least a 2nd.

So conservative value for Toews, you have...
Toews (1/2 retained) = Chribrikov
Then you have Schmidt + a 3rd = a 5th from Chicago

You can see why Chicago would never accept this.

Schmidt + 2023 (or 2024) 1st rounder = Toews 1/2 retained
OR
Schmidt + 2024 2nd + Chirbrikov = Toews 1/2 retained

....are more realistic in my opinion

When was the last time I made a PLD trade?! It's been months and I have been begging for others to stop as well. Flaming all Habs fans for doing something that only a handful are doings is just as bad as the PLD offers themselves.

Thats not what I'm saying, my point is most everyone is doing the same things on here and many don't consider the other teams needs so this is the result, a Jets fan trading Stanley to Montreal and a Habs fan trading Norlinder to Winnipeg, neither team needs these guys!

That is fair and you are right it happens almost as much as fans saying this guy sucks or that guy can't play hockey. We all know they don't really suck or that they all can actually play hockey, otherwise they never would have made the NHL.
