PHI says no thanks.

Its not that Anderson is a cap dump, (although hes becoming one based on his contract/production), and a 2nd THREE drafts away and a midlevel prospect isnt a bad offer, I think PHI with Koneckny, Tippett, Brink, Cates, Farabee, Foerester, Gautheir, Allison, etc... and vets in Deslauriers, a healthy Atkinson are pretty happy with their options at wing.

I would love to see one Monahan proposal to COL that any COL fan has even said maybe to. This is such a hard no.

I think I did say maybe to one, where he was offered for a 4th or 5th with 50% retained, early in the season. At that price you'd have to consider it even if he's not a great fit stylistically. Firsts and seconds and the like shouldn't even be in consideration.

Sharks absolutely take this, with the assurance that Ferrell signs after the NCAA year ends.

But adding another potential top 10 pick in this draft PLUS Calgary's future first (who very well may be on the decline in the next two years) plus a solid prospect and a meh prospect. It's a no Brainer.

It's too good to be true which means MTL wouldn't be offering this much. MTL is going to just use their picks.

no idea why Montreal would be buyers for Meier. They're terrible like SJ

Montreal has multiple young building blocks, the Sharks have none. The Habs have a deep prospect pool, the Sharks don’t. I have no idea why the Skarks would trade Meier considering he’s their only good young player, but those are the rumours.

Most of the time when you propose trades on here, it’s never enough, so I decided to give up a lot for a great player. You can switch the Calgary pick to a 2nd if you think that’s more realistic.

Montreal is definitely getting a 1st for Monahan, if you dont believe Colorado is the right team/right fit then okay, that’s fine.

I hope he gets healthy and you’re right! But you probably shouldn’t bank on a player who was a negative value cap dump becoming a 1st round rental.

It’s a pretty safe bet considering the insiders even believe it to be true. Look at the fall Montreal has had in the last couple weeks since he’s been injured. He was putting up a 55 point pace in a secondary role while playing great. Id be shocked if we didn’t get a 1st for him. His injury is not related to his past injuries, it’s minor.

I very much doubt it but good for MTL if they manage it. Colorado, however, is most definitely not the right fit.

He’s among the most sought after players according to Seravelli and Lebrun. Lebrun specifically believed Colorado will be interested. I’m not exactly sure why he wouldn’t be a fit.

Not a good fit stylistically, I don't think he's a good fit for the Avs style at all. Too slow. I could be proven wrong but I think Lebrun and Seravelli are way off if that's what they're saying. Also not a great idea to only go off articles in the MTL bubble. He's a guy who the Avs might look at if they get desperate and nothing else works out I suppose but that's the only way I see the Avs giving anything for him.

No doubt MTL's prospect pool is better than SJ's but to say SJ has no young building blocks is... bogus. Eklund, Bystedt, Bordeleau, Gushchin, Lund, Havelid?

I think MTL is going to be bottom feeding with SJ for at least 2 more years while their prospects get comfortable with the league, probably more. While they'll probably get to the playoffs again sooner than SJ, I don't see them pulling a Avalanche/NJD in a really hard Atlantic division anytime soon. Maybe that changes if their 2 draft picks jump a bunch in the draft. Next year they have a few bad contracts coming off the books, but they have some bad ones that will linger for a while like the sharks.

Well in this scenario the Habs are picking top 3 and selecting Leo Carlsson who looks like a future superstar. Considering what he’s doing in the SHL, it won’t take him long to find his way in the nhl. He’ll probably have a great rookie season. This kid is the real deal.

As for the Skarks “young building blocks” they’re pretty much all current prospects. They are unproven. The Habs have Suzuki who is proving he’s minimum a 1b top 6 centre, and Caufield who’s about to score 45-50 goals, Dach, Slafkovsky, Guhle, Xhekaj, and a stacked prospect pool (especially after this next draft).

The Habs are not in a bad position to trade for Meier imo. He’s a young building block to pair with what we already have and with what’s coming. Landing a top 3 pick in this stacked draft will just accelerate the process. Not saying we will make the playoffs or anything, but we should start trending up after this season.
