Why is Chicago giving him away for a malcontent, an injury prone 3rd liner and a 2 . Davidson counters Schneider for Tyler Johnson

I think most Ranger fans just want him because they're starstruck by another big name, even if he isn't the right fit.

Larger Cap hit. More assets to acquire. More of a distributor nowadays than an actual Goal Scorer. Not as good Defensively anymore.

And the talk is to put him with Panarin, who is now the same type of pass 1st distributor. So unless you're expecting both of them to set up Chytil for about 50 Goals over the last 30 games, than it doesn't make sense to play them together.

So then you move Kane to the top line so he can feed Zibenejad and Kreider. Makes sense. But then you're messing up the new found chemistry that they've had lately with Kakko.

Kakko goes to the 2nd line, where you hope he clicks with them as much as the 1st line. And then, you're probably still looking for a 3RW, if you have enough Cap space.

Tarasenko makes more sense, as a big ticket item. A player that is better at getting the puck in the net, that will benefit from playing with Panarin, and not mess up the flow of the 1st line.

Pedigree aside, I don't think Kane is the right fit for the Rangers. Regardless of how cool he would look in that Broadway Blue.

Gus Nyquist is the best fit at RW IMO. Solid all around game and will be much cheaper to rent than either Kane or Tarasenko.

FWIW, if (when) Kane is moved, CHI will get a better return than this- just hope it's not from NYR. 100% on when you say a move like this is part of the problem...a move like this (adding stars of yesteryear who offer little to nothing for the future) is probably the main reason why NYR have 1 Cup in over 80 years.

A) Kane was never good defensively
B) Kane and Panarin played together and were probably the best line in hockey....not because either of them are or were ever great goal scorers. An over the hill slow Anisimov was in the middle not providing much value....it was all Kane and Panarin so there is really no reason the 2 aren't playing together now either.

A lot has changed in 7 years. Panarin was averaging 30 Goals over those 2 Seasons, and is on a 22 Goal pace now.

Kane averaged 40 Goals over each of those 2 Seasons. And while I understand he's playing on a horrendous team now, he's on pace for less than half that for this Season.

Father Time has a tendency to change athletes. That still needs to be accounted for.

To my original point, look at what they did together! That's the point I was making. You had 2 play makers on a line together and yet they both ended up scoring a lot of goals as a result of one another.

Your original point is noted. People wouldn't be discussing the potential of them playing together if they hadn't excelled in the past. They were awesome.

The question is: can they replicate that production at this stage of their Careers? More so for Kane.

Look at Kane's numbers last year and the year prior....this year he fell off hard because he's on a horrible team and seems not interested. I don't think Panarin or Kane can replicated what they did 6 years ago, but they can still get very close
