Description
As we are at roughly the halfway point of the NHL season and the standings start to take shape, the trade deadline is beginning to come to the forefront of fans' minds. I'm gathering information about teams' situations ahead of the deadline for a project where I try and make deadline predictions for all 32 teams, and would really appreciate some information from you all about your favorite team.

If you would want to provide some feedback, please comment below:
1. Your team
2. Whether your team is a buyer, seller, or something in-between
3. Your team's needs this deadline
4. Your team's potential trade chips this deadline

Note: Ignore the trades where I just shuffle around some 7th round picks, those are just to get people to visit this page

Thank you in advance and cheers!

Edmonton is probably looking for a shutdown D man and a veteran centre man. Gavrikov and Toews are probably on that list.
Cap Dumps: Foegle, Puljujarvi, Ryan, Murray, and Shore
Trade Chips: Any and all draft picks til 2025, Bourgault, Neimalainen, Desharnais (both big strong defense), Bourgault, Holloway (Blue chip forward prospects) and maybe Broberg.

Detroit is on their tail-end of a rebuild and will sell a few surplus pieces at the deadline but nothing major unless something goes wrong with the contract negotiations for Larkin and Bertuzzi which isn't that likely.

Trade bait; Oesterle, Hägg, Pysyk, Erne and also one of our left wingers most likely Kubalík or possibly Fabbri. We're looking for young prospects on centre and RW preferably right shooters.

Would Chiarot be of interest? Him and Kubalík for Bourgault and Broberg with additions/retentions where needed.

1. Ottawa

2. something in between. depends on the market and the return tbh. I don't think Ottawa will do much.

3. We need a top 4RD badly

4. Talbot, Debrincat, Hamonic, Motte, Holden, Brannstrom.

Look if there's a desperate playoff team in need of a goalie like LA, SEA, NJ, we could get a nice return. I don't see us trading debrincat unless we get a crazy return. We're not really looking for picks, If we do get some picks they will probably be used in the offseason to get what we need. I could realistically see Talbot go to SEA LA or NJ. and Hamonic to EDM or a playoff team who's short on D also maybe we'll sell motte for a little return.

Probably, just no cap space for him. I think they like Barrie too much to want to move him which would be the only way the cap would work.
Kenny Holland likes Broberg though, he's made some comments about wanting to hold on to him.

1. Los Angeles
2. buyer
3. top-4 LhD
4. various RhD, including Sean Durzi (maybe, but only for top talent), Sean Walker, and prospects Jordan Spence and Helge Grans; 2024 first (but NOT the 2023 first), all 2023 draft picks from third round on down, all draft picks in 2024
Note that any trade would probably have to be no more than $2.5 million net negative as to cap

The Red Wings will most likely be conservative sellers at the deadline.

Detroit has key UFAs that are playing themselves into or are already expected to sign extensions including Dylan Larkin, Tyler Bertuzzi, Olli Maatta, Jake Walman & Oskar Sundqvist.

All besides Larkin are likely very much available at the deadline at the right price.

We are in need of high end prospects/young players at RHD & Center mainly. High draft picks are of interest as well, preferably for the 2023 draft.

Aside from the aforementioned players, Dominik Kubalik could be somewhat of a wildcard at the deadline since he has another year on his deal at a bargain price relative to his production.

Yes, Holland's inability to manage the cap is well know here...

Detroit would, of course, swap Barrie for a waiver exempt defender (like Eemil Viro) if that is needed to make the money work but it'd be a tight squeeze. Bourgault and Broberg would be good pieces for the future in Detroit.

2024 first to start, of course. Sean Walker for now and Jordan Spence for later. Bottom-6 roster player like Carl Grundstrom or Jaret Anderson-Dolan, and A prospect forward like Sam Helenius, Francesco Pinelli or Akil Thomas.

I'd like to include all-around LW Alex Iafallo both for cap and value reasons, but a segment of my caucus considers him the team MVP, or at least indispensable. In contrast, I'm of the opinion that to get value, you have to give value, and we have a sufficient number of quality forwards.

Same question to you. Would Chiarot be of interest? For Grans and a pick. I see that the deadline cap space is over 5 million so if that's the only trade then retention isn't needed, otherwise we could take money back.

1. Vancouver Canucks
2. Conservative seller (Should full on sell but likely won't trade everybody)
3. Draft picks, especially 2023 draft picks, young C or RHD players, good prospects
4. Bo Horvat, Luke Schenn, Andrei Kuzmenko, most of our wingers are probably available.

I think that your value is right (so I wouldn't be shocked if that trade occurred), but I don't think that a soon-to-be-32-year-old who's signed for four years is what the front office is looking for. We knew that we were weak at LHD going into the summer so we had the same chance to sign Chiarot as you guys did.

I'm sorry, I apologize for my oversight . . . I should have read your Comment #4 more carefully, or at least made a better effort to absorb it.

2024 first, Durzi, and a forward player/prospect like one of the 5 mentioned in my last comment.

Yeah a couple late round prospect , some 4th line players, a 3rd pair RD, a mid 1st round pick and an over paid 3Lw isn't getting you Chabot. we don't need quantity we need 1 or 2 quality RD that's all lol. we already have better prospects then those you're offering.

Im not sure this gets you Chabot tbh... also you don't have the cap space. I don't think we can answer each others demands I say we call it quits

My best offer: 2024 first, Alex Iafallo, Sean Durzi . . . anything more would be getting into Jack Eichel territory. Plus I'll bet my Kings cohorts will call me crazy.

1. BUF
2. maybe a buyer, but it would be a minor move to bolster D depth
3. not a need this deadline, but a solid 2nd-pairing D-man, or a good 3rd pairing D-man
4. Cap space, but nothing that we are really willing to part with, which is why I think we stay put. Teams might be able to pry a 2nd, 3rd or 4th or later draft pick(s). We probably make a minor move for a depth D-man and give up a 3-5th round draft pick.

Basically, BUF doesn't really need to do anything. We've got prospects and cap space and we know we're not ready for the SC this year. This is a developmental year. That being said, we'd listen to improving our team (especially on D) and we might help to facilitate salary retention on a 3-way trade, if it makes sense.

I wouldn't consider BUF to be players in the trade market this year.

1. Detroit
2. Passive sellers
3. Futures (picks, impact potential prospects up front, preferably right-handed)
4. Any pending UFA not named Larkin, that isn't extended by then. Cap retention is an option. (Bertuzzi, Walman, Maata, Sundqvist, Suter, Osterle, Nedelkovic) or players with term that might not have much of a future here (Zadina, Chairot)

Carolina

Buyer

A 2C that can produce offensively whilst being at least average defensively, 3LD

Futures (Morrow, Kochetkov guaranteed not on the table, with Trikozov and maybe Koivunen entering that category as well. 1st rounders won’t be traded if the trade target is a rental.)
