Ridiculous overpays for both players. As good as rico is offensively and as cool as it would be to have him back, he's near the bottom of the league in defensive play. We could probably get rico for almost free if we wanted and domi for a second.

Looks okay from Chicago's viewpoint.

Devils should consider bringing in Toews from Chicago to take over the 3C role. Toews and Lafferty if your objective is to get a good 4th line winger as well.

That said, Domi for a 2nd should suffice for Chicago

What has Toews been saying about a move? Does he seem open to waiving his NTC?

In interviews, he voiced he was unhappy with the rebuild at the beginning of the season but has been quiet since. Toews is much more well rounded player and experienced over Domi. Domi does provide some more offense and speed, but not by much and is worse at everything else than Toews. Toews probably has slightly more value (will cost more) than Domi, but provided the cap space is there it's a no brainer for the Devils to grab Toews if he's willing.

come back next year with that offer and we might accept it for Rico. If you want the extra year of retention, its going to hurt what you have to give up for him.

If Toews would come here and extend for a couple of years, I'd be game for it.

Maybe Zajac could real him in for us.

Not sure if he would extend (or Domi for that matter), but either way, Toews is a better target for a rental then Domi given a 3C position is in need. If it was a top 6 winger, I'd go with Domi.

Toews did an interview just a couple days ago where he said something along the lines of "There is a part of me that wants to stick around and help with the rebuild and be a blackhawk for life, but there is another part of me that sees the writing on the wall...". I'm leaning toward him asking for a trade. His demeanor is that of someone who understands what CHI is doing but doesn't really want to be a part of it. I also think he is over being captain and kind of looks forward to not being "the guy" anymore. I definitely think not being under the microscope that he is under in CHI and playing with an actually competitive roster is appealing to him. Just look for Blackhawks Talk Podcast and there should be a recent one of Charlie Reumeliotis interviewing Toews. It's not too long but it gives a little more persepective of where his mind is at.
