Easy no. Cozens is too valuable to our future. While he may not have the offensive ceiling of Pettersson, he's such a great leader already at 21 years old, he is adding more physicality to his game, and his defensive awareness is much better. He will continue to grow in all those areas. Olofsson has been steady for us and as far as I'm concerned he's pretty much as good as Boeser.

Easy no.
For fun use combination of Savoie, Ostlund, Johnson, 2024 1st, any 2023 2nd + Mittelstadt. With Pettersson on board, C depth is in tact with Kulich, Krebs, Jost for bottom lines.
Swapping Olofsson for Boeser is bad for Sabres

I guess looking purely at the offensive production and similar ages of the players one could come to conclusion that Buffalo has to add to the trade.
Let's presume Boeser and Olofsson essentially cancel each other leaving Cozens and a first for Pettersson.
This may appear to be fair but remember Dylan is playing primarily with two 20 yo wingers, while Elias is centering the top line with Boeser, Miller, Mikheyev and Kuzmenko as his primary wingers.
This is an easy pass for the Sabres for many reasons, but primarily comparing the line mates, salary, age and physical play of Dylan makes this an easy choice.

As you can see from the Sabre comments, they would clearly rather have Olofsson (no longer tagged as a PP specialist with only 4 of 19 goals coming on the PP this year) over Boeser.
Even though Brock is signed for an extra year before both become free agents, he is paid nearly $2,000,000 more per year, which considering the production of the two is too much.

Take out the first and Buffalo would still reject, if only wanting the keep the devil we know than getting one we do not.
Easy rejection by Buffalo.

Don’t think it makes sense from a Buffalo perspective
First,
just toss out Boeser & Olofsson as they basically cancel each other out
Second,
Although Pettersson is the better player at the moment
(i think)…. Cozens is coming on strong on his development this year & it’s gonna be cheaper to sign him long term than it will be to sign Pettersson

And VAN fans will probably say it’s not enough for him anyways
