Only problem is couture loves San Jose, but buffalo is his home town. Side note: I automatically assumed this was another meier trade but it was exciting

I've been a Couture fan ever since I found out he was a Bills fan, and makes sense because he is about as local as you can get.

That game was brutal. Turning to the Sabres with my grief from the Bills is something I haven't done in awhile.

I think you could see a couple teams paying slightly more for Portillo. Also, I think you'd have to pay more for Foote but I'm really just here for the title.

I hope they axe Dorsey for that performance, I don't want a guy who's entire gameplan is "muh throw it deep and pray Davis doesn't drop it" to stay around as OC, especially when he takes an interview a day before the biggest playoff game of his coaching career. (also not giving proper opportunites to Shakir, Cook, and Hines is frustrating)

I get the Meier hype, but Couture is a better fit for the Sabres IMO. Couture would very much be like an older version of Alex Tuch. I think a trade would make sense for everyone involved.

There are so many vibes to go around and the Sabres have too many of them for the bills to win big

oh im definitley not against it, at the end of the season interviews last year for the sharks he was the only "old man" that expressly denied wanted to move if the sharks decided to rebuild. I would love to watch couture in the playoffs again, the dude is a monster

You're spot on with everything. I keep going back to how they opened the year against the Rams and how they got the ball out quick and made easy passes, opening up the down-field passing game. They made such a big deal about throwing to TEs, throwing to RBs, and YAC and they did none of it, and managed to stop throwing it to one of the best WRs in the league for halves at a time.

I have heard the Frank Reich buzz and I'm on board. Go get a legit #2 WR and get at least two new OL. We can't expect Josh to cover up for everything forever.

I think that is what Buffalo would value so much. Guy is loyal to a fault and when it is go-time he plays hard. With so much youth and essentially no playoff experience, Couture would be such a great guy to lead them on a playoff run.

Would love to see Reich return to Buffalo. I'm hoping that guys like Daniel Jeremiah are right and the WRs like Johnston and Addison will fall so the Bills can pick one of them late in the first.

I mean we really just need better goaltending + no more dummy turnovers. Our 5v5 numbers are middlish (usually somewhere between 14-16) with some of the worst goal tending in the league and a bad power play. Adding in young talent over the next few years could put us back into the playoffs if we could just end our goalie curse. Our cap situation is only super terrible next year and then with the 4 mil bump + a vlassic buyout gives us a lot of wiggle room

Same here. I don't think there is a WR worth paying money outside of Jakobi Meyers in the slot, so drafting one is probably their best bet. They need to get an OL (probably guard) in the 2nd round. I know he is 40 but if Jason Peters wants to play, bring him in and see if he can still play guard. Allen needs more time.

An $8M 3rd line center?

I love Couture as much as the next guy but that's a lot of money for him to play behind Tage and Cozens. Meier, to me, would be a better fit simply because of the development of those two. That and the fact that Couture will be 34 yrs old in March with four years remaining on his contract is a no-go for me. Although the package being sent for him is pretty good.

Agreed. He goes big-game hunting too often. Daboll coached it out of him, or schemed him out of it, but Dorsey seems to like that aggressive style as well.

I think the $8m contract and age are the only bad things about acquiring him. Couture can also play LW and play in every situation. I think his game ages well and as the cap goes up, the $8m will be slightly more tolerable.

Meier does make sense for the timeline, I just think of them needing a veteran presence who can do everything that Couture does is beneficial. The Sabres have so much talent coming it is hard to find room for everyone long-term it seems.

in some ways, I agree. At times, it seems he waits too long for something that isn't there and with how porous the offensive line is, he's waiting too long and unable to scramble as the pocket has already degraded by the time he pulls it down to run. However, I think a lot of this is the fault of scheming. It feels that too many times, Dorsey schemes up long developing plays despite having a struggling O-line and most of their first reads are to a deep route that needs time to separate. If he were to play it a little more conservatively and safer, with more quick developing and short plays when they don't need to go for it all, I think Buffalo would be in a much better shape on offense (that 3rd and 2 when they call a deep shot keeps ringing in my mind)

TB gets way better offers. If by miracle they don't keep him. A 7th defenseman whose RHS is worth a 4-5 absolute Minimum

I have no problem giving up a 4th or 5th for him. I saw some TB fans practically giving him away so I went off of that. I think for a guy with his draft pedigree I would give up more.
