Isles are not trading Dobson, Pulock cannot be traded as he has a full NMC, Edmonton wants nothing to do with Bailey, Hamonic is not needed.

because he is terrible and should be moved while he still has perceived value

These trades wouldn’t fix then anyway and set them up to be worse now, and into the future by giving up more 1st round picks.

The season is over, they need to move out Varly, Mayfield and Parise for picks.

Trade Nelson in the offseason, and buyout Bailey.

Then they can look at adding a top line LW and go with:

New LW-Barzal-Wahlstrom
Lee-Raty-Palmeri
Beau-Pageau-Holmstrom
Parise-Cizikas-Fasching
Martin
Clutter

Pelech-Pulock
Romanov-Dobson
Bolduc- New 3 RD
Salo

It's already massive and very ill-advised for the Isles imo, but this deal probably needs more going to SJ based on Grier saying he wanted 3 1sts for Karlsson (max 18% retained) and _at least_ a 1st + top prospect for Meier. I don't think Dufour alone checks the top prospect box.

I think trading away all your 1sts is a bad idea. You'll be the NY Panthers

I don't think this season is over yet. If they lose these next three, then yes it is. You cannot punt seasons when you have a goalie as good as Sorokin. Also a little ridiculous to suggest trading Nelson, who's been the best forward on the team for quite some time now.

i don't think he's terrible? he's not a future norris winner or anything but he's still a really solid top 4 guy who's fairly paid for what he brings to the table. RDs maintain their value in spite of being terrible for a long time (see: seth jones, rasmus ristolainen). if they move him i want a first and a top prospect, and i think they could get that. team's not good enough to bother with rentals

I figure Dobson makes up enough value to cover discrepancies in value, but you're probably right and they'd likely need to include Raty or Holmstrom as well

nelson is the guy you move because he has the most value, and because he's older so less likely to be a part of the next championship window and a drop-off that will drastically lower his value could come at any time.

Whose season is this saving? Because it's most certainly not saving the Isles.

That Sharks deal is horrific. Turning 23 year old Noah Dobson and our next three 1st rounders into a 32 year old Karlsson + a guy we'd need to give $9M+ this summer would set this franchise back by about a decade - they already haven't made a 1st round pick since 2019 and here they are, trading away their next 3? Jesus Christ.

Nelson has played poor for about 20 games now, it is time for him to go and bring in Raty full time.

Pulock has been a top 30 D in the league for the past 5 seasons. It doesn’t matter what your opinion is.

This would make the Yashin deal look like a shrewd move. Adding at least $17M to next year's cap while subtracting an appropriately paid RD2 in Dobson & sending out every 1st round pick you can get your hands on is just something new.

I don't youll find anyone or any stat that proves Dobson isn't a top pair D. He's one of the better transition D in the NHL and a top 5 goal scoring D in the league.

the difference between my take and yours is that you're giving your opinion. It's a fact that pulock is a top 30 D

Erik Karlsson going to get traded to another non playoff team only to return to form as a replacement level defenseman next season
