That will get you the retention, now what do you propose to pay for Bert?

That will not get you Bert; maybe, Erne. Oh, hey, Bert & Erne.

I missed the Niemela or Knies or 1st coming back for Bertuzzi. While Bert may not get that haul elsewhere, Toronto has to pay a premium.

I'm still not sure why Toronto is even trying, they already know they are an easy out no matter what they do. I heard the mayor of Toronto was offering to help plan the Stanley Cup parade route in Arizona, when they win it long before the Leafs make it past the first round.

Fun fact that everyone knows: it has been just shy of two decades since the Leafs last won a playoff series.

Also fun future fact: Detroit and Seattle will win a playoff series before the Leafs.

That offer doesn't get Murphy without retention. With retention, any deal starts w/ Leafs 2023 1st.

Don’t be petty. The Leafs have a shot to win the Cup just like any other team that makes the postseason. Also, in a big city like Toronto, which is essentially like New York or L.A. for the US, it’s not uncommon to plan things ahead of time. Kind of in the same scope of championship t shirts being made ahead of time for teams that make it to the conference finals or cup finals.

You could probably plan a parade a day before in a place like Columbus but, you cannot in Toronto, NY, LA, etc.

I’ll take that bet.

I only get petty when I keep seeing endless droves of Leafs fans offering up terrible trades for Bertuzzi. More often than not, your average Leaf fan will then say Bertuzzi isn't worth any sort of reasonable ask, basically insinuating that Detroit should just take whatever the Leafs offer and feel honored and blessed that Detroit got anything for such a trash player like Bertuzzi that is included 90 percent of Leaf trade proposals.

Ah, yeah, well I think every fanbase would like to get the better end of a deal right? I think there are certainly some instances where pettiness is warranted but, I think this guy just needs a little perspective rather than the ridicule. I could be wrong.

For Bertuzzi at 50% That offer needs to be far better than this. Not trading him to a divisional foe for that garbage.

I have to disagree, but I understand where you are coming from. This poster doesn't need perspective, they know it is a ridiculous low ball offer. Abruzesse is 24 in June with 9 NHL games. For a team that has lacked bottom 6 talent and cap space for a decade, he should have had more than 9 games in the last 3 years. In a previous post, I believe the poster called him an A- prospect. I mean, cmon.

This is effectively Detroit offering Matt Luff and a 3rd for Nylander and no retention. I only see these levels of ridiculous out of a few fanbases regularly, namely Toronto and Pittsburgh.

Maybe Zadina instead of Luff and it’s a good comparable because Nylander is just a taddddd better than Bertuzzi 😂

I think you’re a bit light on value across the board. But lets just say these go through….

If this team has to beat tampa, boston, and carolina, i hate their chances. I think they’re the underdog in all three of those series.

Fair enough, but that's why I took the retention off the table. If you offer up Zadina, I'd like Toronto to retain some salary.

The good news is they will only possibly face one of those teams, since they will choke in the first round again. Perhaps this time their Zamboni driver can backstop their opponent to a 4 game sweep.
