Reminds me so much when we were saying Hall gets Byram+ or Soderstrom+ or he isn't dealt.

Nah Raty is the better prospect and the Sharks want a goalie.

Hall was a UFA and would walk without Buffalo getting anything in return, which as a rebuilding team, they obviously traded him to Boston for cheap. Meier is an RFA and not a UFA. Therefor he is far more expensive, and also being an RFA and not a UFA. He can’t just pick a team. And get traded there. He doesn’t have the power that hall did in his situation. Another reason he is more valuable that horvat is because his gaining team has control of him into the next year. 10 million QO

The issue with this is Timo is way better than Horvat and Horvat didn’t have 50% retention. That will cost the Devils significantly more.

Meier absolutely has power. He can say "I won't extend there," and then that team won't want to spend half as much. He's only gonna get traded where he's gonna extend, and that lowers his price

Nah retention doesn't cost that much, only on ACGM

That’s arguable. The fact that Meier is way better and way more consistent definitely does though.

Pronman says otherwise by a pretty good amount too
Rankings for the best U23 players (includes NHLers)

68. Shakir Mukhamadullin (NJD)
96. Aatu Raty (NYI)

I'm OK with a G moving but scale back somewhere else

And the Isles overpaid. These types of trade returns are always overestimated by fans.

I was talking about 2019 Hall deal, when NJD was selling him to COL or ARI.

THW had Muk in the 80s and Raty in the 50s for best drafted prospects fwiw

Brennan is also a 4th round pick and 5 years away at least so we have no idea what we have there

Meier's QO gives him the same leverage as a pending UFA

Raty is what?
He is okay I guess....but long, long way off being an elite prospect.
Probably closer to Foote-level of prospect.

No not normally, but both Daily Faceoff and the Athletic have said that teams are viewing and valuing Meier as UFA.
Which is why Grier had to allow teams to talk to him about extension.

So not an UFA....but not really an RFA either.

Okay so the team that traded for him, and he doesn’t resign, unlike hall, where he could walk to the team, Meier since he’s still an RFA, would have to sit and watch that whole year if the GM wants. Hall and Meier are totally different scenarios and Meier will cost a lot.

I think Muk is also similar in talent to Raty and Foote, but he has serious red flags in his game that give me pause. He crumples like a paper crane under pressure and scores most of his points on the power play.

Either the GM pays him 10m against the cap only for him to walk, or the GM doesn't pay him 10m and he becomes a UFA immediately

I think Pronman has become probably one of the better prospect observers out there.
Pronman gets his lists by talking to actual scouts. Kind of like McKenzie and his drat lists.

Smaht Scouting is also very good.
McKeens also good.

Scott Wheeler, Dobber, Ryan Kennedy....these are guys to ignore.

Thought you were talking about Holtz. My mistake.

Yes, Muk, Foote, Raty are all in that 50-100 range.
