I expect the Sharks want Holtz in any deal if the Devils are trading for Meier

I really don’t like this deal. You find plenty of Sharangovich in free agency. I like Mukhamadullin but not sure he’s going to be a high top 4D or anything like that. And a late 1st.

It’s just not enticing

It’s not that this isn’t fair, It’s just a lot of pieces with nothing really being high end. Shara is a middle 6 but good player Mukh. will be a good depth D Johnson is worthless. the pics are nice but will be in the 25+ range and 55+ range and that’s where you find depth not quality. really think the sharks are looking more at 23 1st Holtz and maybe add Walsh. we will take on wood or Johnson but they add negative value to the deal TBF

Holtz + Walsh (who’s blocked anyways) + 1st and one of Johnsson/Wood for cap purposes

Holtz is going to be in there. You NEED Timo and his goals now with Jack out week to week. More leverage for Grier. Timo is sitting pretty at 30 goals, healthy and ready to get 40+ this season. No Holtz, no deal.

Gotta start with Holtz and a 1st

I’ve proposed
Holtz
Mukmuhdallin
2023 1st

Then add and subtract pieces for cap purposes. But I feel like this is a solid general framework for a deal

He’s out for a week max, soft schedule for the rest of February and some cushion in the standings as it relates to a playoff spot. Not as much leverage as you might think.

So NJ can upgrade Holtz who they hope can be a 30 goal scorer and a late 1st for an elite power forward who’s 26 and coming with a longterm extension and don’t want to do it? 😂.

SJ gave teams permission to negotiate so if NJ don’t feel like they can sign him longterm or his demands are ridiculous , they just won’t make the trade.

Holtz + Walsh + Wood/Johnsson + 2023 1st for Meier with an 8 x 8.75 mill extension is more than fair for both teams

I’d hate to lose Holtz because I’m not ready to give him up but if that SJs guy and they are reluctant to talk a deal without him, I think I’d have to do it.

Basically it has to have Holtz + 2023 as the starter.

I was quoting your first response to post, but I don't like this deal/Holtz either.

Let me ask you this:

Would you trade Jesper Bratt for San Jose’s 2023 2nd round pick, Kevin labanc, and artemi knizev? That’s basically how I see this trade, maybe another pick. Sharangovich is labanc, that 1st is late and close to San Jose’s 2nd, Muk and knizev are D prospects though a little apart.

Holtz, Mercer, Nemec, Hughes….all likely off the table.

Especially if Meier costs $9m a year, which probably sends Bratt packing too.

Sharangovich is a lot more comparable to Barabanov. Muk is more like Laroque. The trade is bad for SJ regardless and frankly it's a major underpay.

Even still with those changes it’s not good, you just know if it was Bratt devs fans would be interested in a deal like that

The picks aren’t far off, I’d agree with that. The other two are very far off.

Not really, sharangovich has what 22 point in 50 games? Labanc has 25 points in 45 games. Maybe it’s more like Havelid than Kniazev for a comparable to Muk. That’s really a very similar deal. And you think it’s a joke

So when you hear that all the good prospects the devils have are off the table it’s like…why would San Jose do it? What’s the point in trading him for mid level prospects and late round picks? Just not enough high end value. It is what it is but it very similar situation and you wouldn’t move Bratt for it, I don’t blame you because it sucks
