Canucks take that. I'd expect that kind of return to have a pretty hefty retention price tag on it.

I don't think that the Avs can afford to add a $6 million cap hit next season. They've got 13 guys under contract and less than $14 million of cap space under a $83.5 million ceiling.

They CAN but they almost certainly won't, as anything much above 5 mil means gutting the bottom 6 and bottom D pair. Either way, the Avs shouldn't touch this trade.
