Avs wouldnt give up Annunen and think 1st for Monahan might be a bit of a stretch as is. Maybe he gets a 1st but I would be reluctant to make that deal.

There are 3 or 4 teams looking for a 2C and only 2 real good options for sure on the market (Toews and Monahan, if Toews waives) looking at the packages for Horvat and ROR its not a huge leap to expect a 1st + good prospect in return for either Toews or Monahan. I also forgot to add a games played condition wherein if he doesn't play the minimum then the 1st downgrades to a 2025 2nd.

The Washington trade was purposed by a caps fan this morning but he had Mantha (retained) for Drouin and a 5th

TB CAN'T do this the cap doesn't work. The only way other than making more trades to make the cap work would be to send Perbix down to Syracuse. That however would leave TB with just 6 defenseman and no space to recall Perbix until the start of the playoffs bad idea. This also leaves TB with only 8 NHL ready defenseman for the playoffs because JBB said he feels he has 10 currently and am assuming Foote and Myers are 2 of them.

That's fair, this one was created this morning by a Bolts fan who had many other moves. Thought it was kind of a win-win if both sides could pull it off.

Automatic no from the Avs. SM is injured and Annunen is being developed for future #1 in Colorado.

I’m more bearish on Annunen than you but even then: immediate no. Monahan doesn’t get a 1st, let alone a first plus

By the way it was a Montreal fan doing a bolts ACGM why it favored Montreal.

The value looks pretty good for Dubois, although the actual pieces may differ. I doubt he extends for 8 years at only 8.25 when you look at his comparables though.

Although, the last bring the Quebec boy home was Monty before that was Matheson, before that was Savard. We have actually been bringing in a lot of home town boys (or guys who grew up Habs fans) Montembault, Matheson, Savard, Anderson, Richard and Beaudin. We also drafted Roy, Kidney and Trudeau recently. Over the last 2 years there has been a lot of Quebecois players coming home just not a lot of people have been talking about it.

My point basically was bringing Hometown "Stars" with I'll say "maturity issues" is a dangerous proposition.

I don't think there is a coach in the league who wouldn't sit him for that, at least I hope there isn't lol

Torts always had issues with young players when he took over in TB Vinny Lecavalier used to go to GM Jay Feasters office weekly or so and complain and ask for a trade. Until,Feaster according to him sat Vinny down and told him , I don't know what my legacy as GM of the Tampa Bay lightning will be I do know 2things it won't be 1 as the GM that traded away Vinny Lecavalier or 2 as the GM that Fired John Tortorella. Basically telling Vinny man up and deal with it.

Monahan is a borderline 2C with no winning pedigree and a lengthy injury history. He sure as hell doesn't produce like Horvat and isn't anywhere near the two-way player ROR is. Trading a 1st for Monahan isn't a fireable offense but it sure would be dumb.
