Devils might take that. Carolina can't sacrifice center depth.

I think Necas can play Centre in CAR if they give him more opportunity

No complaints if NJ did that trade

    Not giving up KK,

he actually looked alot better since the turn of the year

11 points in his last 15, 8points in his last 8 games
and he has been a physical presence

Honestly I wouldn't be upset if they traded their first for Boeser (1.65m retained) and Luke Schenn

Gotta get a first from NJ if they don't get Meier. Boeser may not be Meier but he's worth more than a late 2nd and a cap filler.

Hard no from carolina, we don't need the cap help. Swap KK with a B prospect and maybe there's a deal here.

He gets paid to score but hasn't been scoring, but he's still producing. I don't get how people expect multi-year retention and a dirt cheap cost of acquisition. If he was scoring goals the cost would be much higher than a 1st.

Who says Boeser is the consolation prize?

I think a lot of this CAR vs NJD Meier talk is probably one side trying to raise the price on the other. There are likely other teams in play. (And I have my suspicions on which side is the culprit).

Also, are Johnsson and Kotkaniemi similar in value? I thought the latter was held in higher regard in Carolina.

I think a late 1st or 2nd plus prospect is fair for Boeser at around $4.5m to $5m

For sure. He started off the year extremely slow but if he starts scoring more goals than 18-20 pace, Van probably keeps him (and might do so anyway). He's been 25 more or less every year. He's solid and I hope the return is as well.

My thoughts on KK is essentially: he’s a 3C

If canes fans are saying he’s a 2C, then value is definitely off here. I do not watch every canes game, so outside of war charts and hockey DB it is tough for me to gauge KK value.

If canes don’t need to send any cap back, then 2nd plus Bokk or something is fine too with less retention

I would very happily increase the retention as much as 50% if it means landing a 1st or A prospect in a Boeser trade
