Honestly just can't see them giving up nemec. He's going to be a stud on their blueline. With severson and Graves going soon nemec and Hughes are the future studs there. Obviously you have to give to get, so maybe mercer++? If you want the top defensive prospect it would be a 1 for 1 like the brannstrom Stone deal from a few years ago

Forsure, get where you're coming from. I actually posted a Mercer trade a few weeks ago. Funny that's what appears to have been leaked recently as a sticking point/he's played so well last few games.

Except that wasn’t 1 for 1 and stone only wanted to go to Vegas so that handicapped the return.

Listen, I get SJ asking the world for Timo but just try to put in perspective on what Chicago received for DeBrincat. Different situations but if the were to offer you 7th oa,a 2nd and a 3rd two years from now would you do it?

So getting
Holtz ( Better odds of being and impact player than Korchinski)
Seamus Casey ( Mobile puck moving defenseman and projected to be a first rounder)
2023 1ST
Sharangovich, Zetterlund one of

That's a pretty good return by comparison.

Keep Meier. Want nothing to do with moving Hughes, Nemec, or Mercer.

Sharks need quality over quantity. Timo is better than Debrincat, and even then your package doesn't have an asset worth 7OA. No need to rehash what's been covered at nauseam, we can agree to disagree.

Honestly if NJD are telling the sharks no mercer, holtz or nemec then GMMG should be telling them to kick rocks.

We’ve been willing to deal Holtz! Just seems SJBACKSEATGM and sleeparc just hate him to the point where he can’t be fairly placed in the deal.

I don't blame Greir for the ask. Just not worth taking a core piece out to insert a new one. Meier might be better. Mercer is a cornerstone of the future

Understandable. Teams typically have to give up something they value a lot in a big trade (or simply don't make the trade).

currently timo currently offers more than cat does and Chicago gave him away for peanuts, everyone here thought it would be a bigger return. and if the sharks got the 7th overall in this draft they would chomp at the bit, st Louis's currently #9 overall is one of the most valuable assets thats been mentioned in any timo trade. *edit* holtz should be good but I dont know if that is a claim we can make right now, that he will be better than korchinski

this is so interesting to me, over the next 8 years I would bet that meier is better than mercer in 6/8, and that mercer never hits the ceiling meier does. Like in a team with Hughes, nemec, Hughes, bratt, hischer I wouldn't necessarily even consider mercer a core piece. There is also every chance this take ages like milk but thats the point of the website

This is the deal I thought would get it done and thought was fair but then all this news about Grier stuck on Mercer... they are shooting high because I assume they don't really want to trade Meier

Stick a fork in Meier-to-NJD.

Grier is pricing him off the market.

Sharks are asking for…
Mercer + 1st + Hughes
Mercer + 1st + Holtz + Mukhamadullin
Mercer + 1st + Holtz + Nemec

We are happy kicking rocks. Want no part of anything San Jose is selling.

Holtz remains better than any other prospect on the table. If he's jot enough to be a centerpiece then enjoy 10 mill meier for 1 more year before he hits free agency
