Description

Kyle Dubas stuns the hockey world by signing and calling up Matthew Knies, the Maple Leafs top prospect and next great NHL Power Forward to bring home a Stanley Cup to Toronto.

This brilliant move by Dubas is similar to the great move by the Montreal Canadians who called up Ken Dryden at the end of the season which powered the team to a Cup win and the beginning of an NHL Dynasty.

Dubas has restocked the Maple Leafs into a Power House team by adding grit, character and glory players to complement the Big 5 of Tavares, O'Reilly, Marner, Matthews and Nylander who are going to bring home a Cup to Canada and Leafs Nation.

If this roster was any other team it would be considered a top contender. Despite having to go through the 5 other top 6 teams in the league to get to the cup. It very well could be another year where Colorado walks to final by beating up the garbage teams in the west before playing a walking wounded eastern Conference team that has played all the best teams in the east to get to the final.

If the golden gophers make it to the NCAA final, Knies will only get 3 games in before the playoffs. I think at best he'll get a couple games and then be on the practice roster for the playoffs. His time is next year.

First the Leafs better sign Knies. IMO there is still a chance he takes the college UFA route and signs with LA as UFA to play with his friend Matthews.

No, I realist. And as you pointed out, if Knies players to the NCAA finals, he couldn't play enough games with the Leafs to burn a years off his ELC.,

I believe it burns a year anyway because he is a college player. Leafs can sign him to 3 this year or 2 next season. But I may be wrong.

If Toronto was in the West, I would gladly say that they at least make it out of the first round, but probably not more than the Western conference finals. But since they are in the East, first round exit.
