Parayko and Domi

Created by: arafay
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 1, 2023
Published: Mar. 1, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don’t think the price for parayko will be high, it’s only this high because of the retention.

The cap just barely works out. By moving perfett and gustafsson to IR, I gain about 1.6M in cap space. With 5.4M of deadline space already, that combines to 7M in space. Which works for these trades.
Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Domi, Max ($1,500,000 retained)
CHI
  1. Rashevsky, Dmitri [Reserve List]
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (WPG)
2.
WPG
  1. Parayko, Colton ($500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Jets need the retention for this to fit. It’s still small though and raises his value significantly in my opinion.
STL
  1. Chibrikov, Nikita [Reserve List]
  2. Chisholm, Declan
  3. 2023 1st round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Higher-end prospect (fringe A) and an NHL ready d-man who’s dominating in the A, but won’t get a chance in Winnipeg. The 1st always helps.

Max Domi, who has 18 goals and 49 points in 60 games, is probably not being traded for less than the return for Luke Schenn

I got a feeling Chevy is going to go big, and he’s always so sneaky about it. Blues and Jets have a healthy trade history. It would be cool if there were a way for each team to help the other this deadline.

Yeah, didn't think so. But I'm not moving chibrikov if there's no retention. Probably get parayko with no retention and get a 3rd team to retain half on domi

Agreed. The Niederreiter trade was shrewd from chevy. Bringing in a long term partner for jomo or heinola eventually in parayko would make this team lethal on the back end. Then they are only a domi-type guy away from a contender in my opinion. They've worked together before to make sneaky behind the scene moves like stastny, it would be interesting to see parayko on this team.

Aren't the Hawks strangely trying to sign Domi? Heard that somewhere.

I don't love the idea.....but at the end of the day they do still need to ice a hockey team next year I suppose.

Don't think the Blues even have interest in Chibrikov. You could just throw in a 3rd

Trade him then resign him in the Summer I heard.

Its strange to retain money for so little because the term is so long it keeps the Blues at 1 less retention spot per year for the next decade, almost. jets need to dump money elsewhere. Dont see that happening with any team to retain that long.

Yeah if the Blues trade Parayko they won't retain on him, long term retention is rare even though we've seen a bit more of it lately.

There's OEL and Kessel (off the top of my head) but both were half as long as Parayko

Pretty sure the McCabe retention is the longest term retention at the biggest % amount ever but yeah those two were the longest just at a lower %.

He is a prairie boy so he would be closer to his family. Also, Winnipeg is looking to ice a contender the next couple of years at least. So that’s also a convincing argument. And he gets to play next to a guy like Morrissey. A lot the jets could do to convince him.

Don't think he really is though. Maybe instead of the two prospects it could be Lambert and 1st.
