Take out both seconds in the Detroit trade and they might accept. That would be a big maybe in my opinion. If he was worth 2 seconds you wouldn't be trading him.

Take out both 2nds, add Crosby and Guentzel, and then maybe Detroit accepts.

The Athletics model has Petry as a 6M+ worth. Teams give up far more for big RHD every year at deadline that are horrible. Also its not really about Detroit.. could go to several places.

You're nuts, even free, he's cooked... there's a reason all these ACGM's are trying to get rid of him... even with half retained AND being paid assets to take him, a declining, breaking down, 37 year old taking up more than 3m in cap in 24-25 is a bad idea for a team that should be aiming for the playoffs as early as next season...

I don't know what the Athletics model is or how they determine value. I would expect probably take points and cost to determine what they are worth compared to past deals. Not factoring in alot of other things that are important to the game. If he's worth 6M then it seems like you guys gave a pretty good player on a pretty good contract and should just keep him.

Agreed. Just treating it like Vanacek.. who I see now was a milly less. but itll cost close to 4 with his LAK play.

For a team in WIN NOW mode, MAYBE they take Petry with retention in hopes he's good for next season, but he does NOT pass the eye test, he looks like he's declining and FAST and age generally doesn't help that being 37 at the end of the deal... I think any team would be nuts to take him on...

Korpisalo may very well get 4mil - I just personally hope if that's what he costs that the Pens pass and look elsewhere.
