. PLD doesn't sign it and takes the QO one year for 6m. Jets keep him for one year instead of taking a third rounder (if he did sign the offer sheet), and then PLD signs just 7 year contract as a UFA.

The problem is the Jets doesn't want to sign another QO for Dubois, same thing for him.

i guess the option to trade him or the the QO would not be possivle if he sign the OS. (but thats never gonna happen so its a moot point)

The problem in your scenario, is the Jets would rather have second line centre for 23/24 instead of a third rounder. Jets can still trade him for more than a third rounder at TDL if they are sellers if he QOed.

The problem is the Jets doesn't want to lose him without a return at free agency, because they know that Dubois doesn't want anymore playing for the Jets, but for the Canadiens.

You guys realize that WPG can just file for team initiated salary Arbitration and it blocks any team for Offer sheeting him or contacting him right?

That's what happened with Matthew Tkachuk , Teams file arbitration before FA begins, so MTL wouldn't even be allowed to speak with him

I think they also need the autorisation of the player for making that, and Tkachuck sign his contract extesion just before he got traded.

Asking Dubois or anyone for that matter to take a 4 million dollar pay cut out of the goodness of their heart is funny.

The audacity!

How would you explain this then?

"If the team elects arbitration, the player can still sign an offer sheet with another team prior to July 5 at 5pm, which would negate the team elected arbitration. The Team must elect the arbitration by 5pm on the later of June 15 or 48 hours after the Stanley Cup Finals ends."

"By doing so, Tkachuk, a restricted free agent, is unable to receive an offer sheet from another team."

Honestly, I am not an expert in Arbitrration or offer sheets,
So I can't say I am right or you are right (seems to be conflicting info out there)

I just remembered everyone talking about Tkachuk not being able to receive an offer-sheet because of the team elected arbitration
