Yeah capitals aren’t wasting the #40oa pick to dump Mantha. Other teams will do this for way cheaper.

A scoring winger (20 goals on the leagues worst) locks in the top 9 with league minimum allowing more cap to be spent on the back end and getting couple of quality prospects in the 2nd round to help the pipeline.

Seems like a Sutter player.

Its not a big deal if this does happen or not really.

No biggie, guess they don't really want to chase success whilst Ovi is there....

I disagree. Teams want compensation to take cap dumps. Especially if it's almost 6mil

It’s not terrible. Depends on what that 1st could bring instead I guess, but Raddysh did just have a decent season

Not sure if we need him with Duehr & Coronato on the roster already though

Lol yes overpaying using a high end draft pick to dump Mantha is really what’s going to make them unsuccessful. A pick they can use to acquire actual talent… good call

Also Keeps space available to add a piece to go with Ovi and keep the dream alive....

Yeah no ****. I’m not suggesting they take him for free but Mantha is a player with upside that can return a decent draft pick at the deadline. I’m not paying a to 50 pick in a deep draft to dump him. They can have the Boston 2025 2nd. I bet AZ would take him for less than the suggested price here easily.

Cant afford "actual talent" without cap space.....

2023 pick used due to the Raddysh move but if thats not going to happen the BOS 2nd is fine in 25'.

Removing that cap will open space if they want to add more effective talent to that roster.

Again you are missing the point. A team would take him for a lesser draft pick. Great example 2025 Boston 2nd. Asking for a top 40ish pick in this draft is terrible assets management. They’ll also look to move Kuzy to free up cap space

The Flames deal feels like a deal the Bolts or Avs would make at the deadline, maybe not calgary.

Calgary doesn't need depth players. Thats the issue. The are chalked full of middle 6 guys between Dube, Mangiapane, Coleman, Ruzicka, Duehr, Pelletier, Coronato, and Backlund.

Caps aren't paying to move Mantha. They'll either swap for another player that needs a change of scenery or see if the new coach will actually utilize him properly.

After this season his value is at an all time low and I think everyone is now aware of just how MIA he can be in the lineup. A 2025 second works just fine to get rid of him, but I doubt we’d be getting anything of value for him

Sure but you don’t give away a top 40-50 pick in a high level draft.

I don't see Calgary making that deal. Brad has said that because this is such a deep draft class he has no interest in trading that pick. Had Calgary made the playoffs and that pick potentially been bumped back to early to late twenties then I could maybe see them making that deal, but because their pick is looking more like 10-16 they won't make that trade.
