EK65 would be a terrible idea. His value is an MTV level catfish. he had 97 points over his last 3 season then he randomly has a 100 point year and everyone forgets how terrible he was over the previous 3 years.

1st overall to 2nd overall would cost the Sharks Eklund + 2nd overall and maybe more. Bedard is that much better than everyone else in his draft class.

My hypothetical is Sharks already have 1st, Caps have 2nd. Caps send 2nd to Sharks who then get 1 & 2 this year

Karlsson was also hurt all of those seasons.

John Carlson this year: 9 G 18 A 28 P
Erik Karlsson this year: 25 G 75 A 100P

Ek65 played 1 more game than Carlson over the last 4 years... common sense tells you that both were hurt? notice how you left out the games played in your comparison... good try though?

218p > 197p esp when he played less games smile

And he was on a much better team over that time…I don’t see this as being even remotely close considering where we are literally today where Karlsson put up 100 points which hasn’t been done in 30 years…

Interesting idea. I accept if I’m the Sharks. Bedard and Fantilli down the middle means the sharks are set at 1C and 2C for the next decade plus.

Washington was good bc Carlson was one of the best offensive players in the NHL. EK65 is on a terrible team and has 100 points.? your point is literally pointless.

"i don’t see this as being even remotely close considering where we are literally today where Karlsson put up 100 points which hasn’t been done in 30 years"... over the last 4 seasons he has 51% of those points this year. What guy do you get next year? the 100p guy or the 30 point guy? hes also making 11m? WTF would i give positive value on such a terrible risk? When Carlson is comparable and cheaper?

The Caps would be infinitely better keeping Kutz, Mantha and 14m and the first pick, rather than those three players and their long 27m long term cap.

this might be one of the worst ideas ever. every player you are trading for is older and the contracts will end terrible. 2oa pick is worth way more than this

Yeah the cap this season would Kutz for two seasons, Mantha for one, plus 14m in cap rather than aging Sharks. Gee for 14m....that gets you Matthews next season....and you have the first or second overall draft pick too.

Sharks run away laughing with what will be top 3 best 1-2 center depth in the League in 5 years! Washington should NEVER do this as they just get older.
If anything sharks should at least retain 3.5 on Karlsson to allow for more flexibility in your lineup.

Karlsson has been elite his entire career, why do you consider 3 injured years to be the norm and not the many before that?

He's 32 years old? should i also focus on Backstroms mid 20s if i was looking at his value? no obviously not. going by the last 4 years is the most realistic. his age mixed with his cap hit and his stats over the last 4 years is enough for me to stay away from him."injury years" MF has always had injury issues. lol come on now. this year imo is the fluke not the prior 3 years

when looking at his whole career he is constantly elite vs 3 outlier years is my argument. Covid year, half a groin... Backstrom didn't just have a 100 pt year so im not sure what the comparison is

If it's a guaranteed 2nd overall, then yeah Sharks do this. You'd have to convince a LOT of players agree to waive their no-trade/movement clauses though. Hertl likely won't move no matter what.

Mantha can be flipped at the deadline and Kuzy the same the year after.

SJS could retain half on all of those contracts and I would still think its horrible for washington.

When did Carlson score 100 points? Oh yeah…

And sure as sh*t being on a bottom 5 team and scoring 100 points is much harder than being on a playoff team and putting up 50 like Carlson. Wear those red and blue tinted glasses hard I see.
