We say no and then he walks away and we get nothing the next summer… sounds great.

Rielly is one of the best LHD in the league. LA needs a LHD. It seems like it should be a yes.

Ain't no way LA trades three good NHLers for one Reilly. Denault doesn't waive either....and maybe Reilly doesn't either
Nashville shouldn't be trading two first rounders for one year of Matthews, unless they think they can recoup that in a TDL trade.

LA needs a high-quality LhD. Reilly is one and a good player. Danault and Arvidsson are also good players, two-thirds of our #1B forward line, and the first is far more important to us than Roni Hirvonen.

We might well be interested in Reilly, but not for those pieces.

...and Danault is a Selke trophy candidate every year, signed to a very team-friendly long-term contract. I wouldn't trade Danault for Rielly 1-for-1.

Would be the fleece of the century if NSH could pull that off. TOR says absolutely not

Ofc I am operating under the assumption that Matthews would be more than willing to resign in Nashville.

Two good NHLers, Walker is a cap casualty at this point.

Why would you trade Matthews for 2 firsts, 2 meh average prospects, and a massive cap dump?

No matter how you spin it, this is so bad for LA. You can keep both your players.

Because I doubt a team will give us much more knowing he will walk in a year.

I've been wondering about Rielly/Danault 1vs1 for a while but figured it would get shot down. What's your opinion?

I think Rielly is a more dynamic player at his position than Danault is at his, which is why I wouldn’t do a pure hockey trade.

We wouldn't be interested. We can improve the team by adding at LhD, and don't necessarily need to add someone as good as Rielly, but we can't really replace Danault. He's been the home-run acquisition of all time for us. The only reason why he won't get Selke Trophy votes is because he plays on the same team with Anze Kopitar.

To put it in the simplest terms, we have a chance right now, as presently constituted, to beat the Oilers. If we had Rielly instead of Danault, we'd be out in four.

I understand the impact of having two centres who can match up with the fire power of a team like the Oilers. It really comes down to should any team look to strengthen their weaknesses or perhaps add onto their strengths? Either option can be a viable one. When you hear rumours like Karlsson to Edmonton that is adding to their strength. However the Ekholm trade helped them at their weakest spot in the lineup. To get him they had to move a very good offensive piece in Barrie. The Kings have what I believe is an adequate goaltending tandem should they resign Korpisalo as I expect they’ll do. Do you see them resigning Gavrikov?

The issue you raise dovetails perfectly with your question. I think that Rob Blake's primary objective this summer will be to re-sign both Gavrikov and Korpisalo. To do so, we may have to sacrifice Viktor Arvidsson (who has been wonderful for us) or Alex Iafallo (who is the most underrated player on the Kings). THAT is a cost worth paying, in my opinion. Losing Danault for a better LhD than Gavrikov isn't, to me.

I think L.A. would be the team turning down the trade as it's easier to find a Rielly than another Danault but value is close IMO.

Very well put and understandable. I figured it'd be a no but I figured value wise it was pretty close. When Blake first signed him I thought it would be to move him in a couple of years for that elusive LHD but agree he's a playoff beast. I was more dreaming of AM,PD,ROR,Kampf down the middle.

I will say this, I still believe Matthew's re-signs but if he doesn't he'd be traded to L.A. and Danault will be part of the trade coming back.

We'll give you KK, Berrios & Garcia as part of the trade... that is our final offer! Lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
