You have got to be kidding right! Barron put up points at a similar pace to Pionk at less than 1/5th of the cost and in his rookie season! Barron has a higher ceiling, is cost controlled for next season, is team controlled for the next 5 years and already has a similar ppg average to Pionk's 0.40 ppg (Barron 0.38). Montreal is not moving Barron straight up for Pionk when Barron next year could easily outscore Pionk LMAO!!!

Agreed, I like the idea of a Barron for Pionk swap included in the Dubois trade though (if the Jets are reasonable and see the value in it - $5M in cap space and a young replacement D that is under team control for 5+ years).

Works especially in their favour if they sign Severson with the cap space they gain from this move... Pionk for Barron + Severson is a huge win.

Wont happen but the threat alone of an offer sheet makes the PLD price change. 4.1M offer sheet signed and the jets are screwed as they wont be able to trade him. That has to be considered in any honest negotiation.

I don't like the idea of swapping out the better, younger, cost controlled player who is already scoring at a similar pace. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, we are rebuilding not going for a cup, keep the younger Barron and see if he can put up 30-40 points next year as a full-time NHL player and allow the young roster to continue to grow together.

Pionk being worth more than Barron in a hard cap league. Delusion at its finest from an opposing fan base that doesnt know the other teams prospects. And coming from Winnipeg of all teams. A team, that is beyond desperate for low cost assets that they can control with everyone leaving as soon as they can.

Barron just isn't happening. We are trying to add to our core group of young players.
Moving one core player for another core player, means no net gain regardless of what else is involved.
We have plenty of center possibilities internally and almost none at RHD. Anyone older and/or short term is only a stop-gap measure and doesn't make sense if you're increasing the gap you need to cover by trading away up and coming roster players.

Are you daft?! Montreal is not moving Barron + 1st for PLD let alone adding Kidney, Roy and a 2nd just to include Pionk. We are not paying 2 1sts + a good prospect for someone we can wait 1 year to sign. Montreal is not without leverage here and Hughes and Chevy aren't going to be out to screw each other either, the package has to make sense for both sides not just the Jets. Montreal needs Barron more than they need to get PLD a year early.

I can't see WPG trade their 2RD unless they're rebuilding next summer. If so, i guess a late 1st and B prospect would be the price.

MTL should trade for Bouchard next summer if Oilers don't have cap space for him.
