Description
I am not a Jets fan, however I have always liked the Jets roster. Yet every year, something or someone gets in their way. I have never enjoyed Wheeler since the Laine comments came out and PLD has a love for only one team. These are two guys I would remove this offseason regardless of what happens in the playoffs. Scheifele I am also not a fan of but their is no denying his talent. If he is willing to sign an extension, keep him. If not, he needs to be traded for the highest value at the deadline.

I also think the Jets have some unreal prospects coming up that will help them stay relevant. I would totally be down to see a second or third line Perfetti and Lambert with a strong winger having fun. Both are incredibility skilled and will be a stable for a long positive run in Winnipeg.

Defence got much better this year with Morrissey going god mode, lets continue this by signing a big, shut down guy in Graves to help the PK. Outside of that, leave the defence alone as they are older, and could be trade bait later in the season.

Helly is still a top 5 goalie in the league, no issue here.

Trades
1.
WPG
  1. 2024 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Jets receive a 2024 unprotected first, likely a late pick in the draft
COL
  1. Wheeler, Blake ($4,120,000 retained)
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
This deal is set up for the Aves if either one of Nichushkin or Landeskog cannot play at all next season due to injuries (LTIR). Aves get a big man who can score and hit. Won't need to be a locker room leader with who the Aves have. Getting a 3rd back, with half retained for someone who is easily capable of 60 plus points is a steal for an injury riddled team.
2.
WPG
  1. Beck, Owen
  2. Hoffman, Mike ($2,250,000 retained)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
  4. 2023 4th round pick (MTL)
  5. 2025 1st round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Jets get a good amount back for a player who had no-intention of playing for them long term. Like Aaron Rodgers, just getting something back is a win. Beck is a solid prospect and getting back a 2nd in this years draft helps too. Hoffman is sent over for cap / Montreal hates him reasons. The key piece is the 2025 1st rounder. It will be top 5 protected but offers some future hope nearly two years after this trade is made.
MTL
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Montreal finally gets their number one french center, who will likely command a hefty contract. PLD skills can't be denied and will make Montreal a much better team just by stepping on the ice with them. The offence will flow much smoother with him at either C1 or C2

switch Beck for Kidney , then Hoffman for Dvorak. Hughes's scouts took Beck, im sure they'd be more inclined to trade one of the Bergevin picks rather than his own pick, prob the only player that he deems worthy of keeping is Roy, Roy at the wjc was very good. Dvorak has more value than Hoffman, prob retain 1.5 to make it work so that Dvorak is at 3mil instead of 4.5 as 3c, then by adding more value via Dvorak they wouldnt need to trade Beck.

Helle will be leaving in FA, Scheifele is a huge issue with the team. Also no Samberg? Lambert isn’t ready for the NHL, graves won’t be coming here. Avs laugh at that wheeler trade. Perfetti and Ehlers are turning into major injury bugs. Ehlers I’m kinda tired of now, lots of talent but made out of glass and Perfetti is giving that vibe as well.

With how deep the draft is best offer MTL should be making is:
- Dvorak
- Ylonen (or Kapanen)
- FLA 1st (17th overall)

Even then, it's probably better if MTL just keeps the 1st and signs Dubois as a UFA in 2024.

There's no incentive for Winnipeg to do the Montreal trade.

The 2023 2nd from Mtl at 37OA is pretty much a 1st in previous years including every year back to 2019 with this stacked draft

The Jets arent getting 3 1sts plus plus for PLD. They would just offer sheet and go from there. This aint close

I hope Chevy puts forth such an insulting offer so Hughes keeps the Florida pick which is better IMO than PLD with Wood or Leonard in that range over a 60 point player with character issues that could wilt under pressure and will be overpaid.

ur joking right? first off, this is an overpayment for Dubois. Secondly, he's going to leave anyway why not try and get something?

They aren't being compensated to take Hoffman as a cap dump or for waiting 3 drafts for a 1st. They easily get more than that in the summer, so there's no reason to take a bad offer.

Ignore him. Its hopeless. He's always wrong, he should have stopped posting after the Laine trade if he had any integrity.

Only Paul Maurice would trade for Wheeler. Plan for him to end up in Florida.
