Description
Just wanted to see what it would look like.

Jets have a lot of issues and should probably blow it up. Gotta think Hellebuyck would be interested in re-signing long-term. Husso hasn't had a good start and Cossa doesn't look so hot at the moment either.

ROR has the connection with Perron and is probably one of the best 2Cs available at the moment. Would be a good fit.

Gudas was one of Yzerman's first draft picks with the Lightning. Seems a good fit for some gritty right side veteran depth.

That's awful for Winnipeg. The first is a great start, but the rest is unneeded or just bad.

I disagree. It's a one-year rental. You get the 9th overall along with a good D-prospect and change of scenery in Zadina. If anything, I think DET fans wouldn't like giving up that pick, but may be interested assuming he signs long-term, which I think he would love to.

Nothing wrong with Helly. But we can't give up that pick. Deep draft. We're getting a very good player here. Besides, goalies don't get that high of a return in trades. We're buying time for Cossa anyway.

Jets probably take that if they fully rebuild. Idk if that's happening but there's definitely worse offers for Hellebuyck out there

Nah. The Jets will trade him somewhere he is willing to extend and get more useful pieces. The first is really nice but Zadina is a bust and the very last thing the Jets need is an LHD.

So, while you may want to view Helly as a rental, you'll need to beat an extended price to get him.

Cory Schneider got the 9th pick in 2013. Hellebuyck is a top 5 goalie and really is just the 8th pick which could be 9th just like Schneider.

Yeah that's one instance. And that was a decade ago. The pick turned out to be Bo Horvat. Yzerman isn't giving up that pick for a goalie.

right? idk i think it's a pretty solid offer. It seems time to blow it up and send Scheifele and Ehlers off, Wheeler too if they can get a taker 50% retained. Why prolong the mediocre when they have perfectly good value to deal?

Goalies don't get a massive return like players even with extensions. Maybe one more prospect or a better prospect but this isn't the worst offer that would be on the table and pick wise may be the best.

You never give up a pick for a goalie until you do. It's not out of the realm of possibility. Definitely could happen also may not really just up in the air. I will say if any goalie was to get a top 10 pick helle would be near the top of my list and the rest probably aren't available

Another kinda similar comp would be Raanta but he came with Stepan while he was still kinda decent.

Y'all already have a pretty solid prospect pool. I agree this is kinda forcing contention, but you can kinda afford it. Doesn't really feel like an Yzerman move, but this is a contending team, no?

I like the UFA signings, but I wouldn’t do any of these trades😅sorry.
-Hellebuyck is soon 30. Are we Cup contenders while he's still in his prime? No.
-Personally I want as many 1st round picks as possible for this Draft.

Jets need to blow it up to a certain extent. A definite retool and I think the best guys they can move are Helly ( because he said he WILL test free agency when it comes) and Ehlers. Hold onto Connor, Scheiffele (likely can resign), let Wheeler play out his year since he’s not worth much. Not sure what they will do with Dubois but I guess maximize his return whether that is offseason to Montreal or a rental at TDL. Their defence is atrocious and they just won’t compete and will stay mediocre unless they make serious attempts to fix it. Legitimate hockey trades are options for them, as are prospects and draft picks. I think Helly could fetch a return like this and that would be very good for the jets. But to expect more would be insane. I hope to god that the wings wouldn’t consider this. I don’t care if it means he extends or it’s this price as a rental, the wings need to stay PATIENT. Helly hasn’t proven he can win the big game. Sure he’s a top 5 goalie, but without a great defence in front of him he gets exposed as fairly average. How often have we seen him outdueled by inferiors like Brossoit? Not smart for Detroit and they already have Cossa on the way, 2 or 3 years out when they could open their window. And the more I look at that Debrincat trade that has been floated around, the less I like it for the wings, stay patient.

With Czarnik as a regular? No. Bert isn't returning. ROR would be great but he likely re-signs with Toronto or returns to the Blues. Gudas is a possibility. I don't see us trading for Cat. Stevie will likely inquire though. Kasper is more likely to make the team than Soderblom. Husso is our #1 goalie and we'll sign or trade for a backup. Sounds like Lindstrom wants to stay in Sweden. I hope he gets his wish.

I agree, if anything DET waits a year and just hits him up as a UFA. I'm definitely forcing it a bit, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Hellebuyck finish his career in DET.

Yeah by no means would I be against the wings signing him if he does reach free agency. Him and cossa as the tandem could be really nice. I just think the wings really need to stay the course and develop a couple more stars, then they will be close. Either way I would like a ROR signing

The value is fine.but whit Husso and Cossa in the system up grading their goalie is a luxury they can't afford tight now.

Are you confident in Husso and Cossa though? Husso expires in two years. Husso is not in the future and Cossa isn’t a sure thing yet. Hellebuyck should be considered your future at this point, if not in this trade, the next year in UFA.

Confident enough not to give away top 10 pick in a very deep draft for a 30yr old goalie.

In the off-season Detroit signs Hill to split time with Husso while Cossa develops. The last time Yzerman took a goalie in the 1st round it really worked out well.

The 1st is great. Imagine the Jets would need Husso in return (and the Wings go with Helle and Cusso, no need for Husso anyway). Dont see anymore being added.
