Michkov at 3

Description
I'd be happy with whatever happens 1-5, but if we get 3 Michkov would be the pick IMO. Higher upside, and the fact we don't get him on an ELC for 3 years is a bonus. Might help us lose more and have a better idea of the window. Adding Michkov then could fire off the beginning of the cautiously attempt to compete window. He'd be on the cheap deal when we could take advantage of it.

Either way, we need to suck again next year and likely the next at least. Top teams have top picks. Look at recent cup winners:
Col - MacKinnon, Landeskog, Makar
TB - Hedman, Stamkos
STL - Pietrangelo (and luck)
Caps - Ovi and Backstrom
Penguins - Crosby and Malkin
Chi - Kane, Toews

At least the vast majority of Davidson's moves have been logical, and I'm optimistic about the future, whenever that is.

More of the concept of trading up - This would be roughly 26OA for 35OA and 67OA. Not sure about the value, etc but I definitely see us moving up with some of these picks.

Im definitely fine with a Michkov pick. I like you think there is a strong possibility we move up into the 1st for a third pick on the first day, not sure which team or how it will be structured but I agree.

All the moves there seem logical, Only thing I would say is that COL aren't quite as thin as you'd expect with their success but perhaps they may be open to it with more cap crunching coming their way.

Michkov to Chicago would be smart move. 3 year plan - suck 1st year, get better 2nd, maybe playoffs year 3rd. Spend cap, resign worthy players and Michkov on ELC - year 4.

Also why would Tampa give anything for dumping Seabrook's LITR contract ? He does not cost them anything

I like the Murray to Hawks deal, very similar to Mrazek deal. Allows the Hawks to move up to the end of the first round and Leafs get some valuable cap space.

I think this is the only option for the Leafs to dump Murray without a buyout, hopefully Murray would agree to the deal with his 10 team NTC as a potential barrier.

Trading Seabrook means they can start accruing cap space again.

I do think that there is also a strong chance that if we fall to 5th overall that Michkov is still there. Chicago is one of the few teams at the top of the lottery that may be willing to wait until 2026-2027 for Michkov.

Nice job on this! All seems pretty realistic. My only comment is I don't see Korchinski in the NHL next season unless it's for his 9 games at the start of the season. He has some work to do on his defensive game, which is better done in the WHL. I think Vlasic is on top pair w/ Jones and Phillips is on 2nd pair w/ Murphy.

Wennberg is more valuable to Seattle than Blackwell is. Seattle already has enough players like Blackwell on the roster.

Don't see the Avs trading out of the first round yet again without acquiring something they need like a 2C.

Where is the gain for them ? LITR is not counting against cap and they are not paying this salary - insurance is. Or am I mistaken and it cost them actual money ?
