Marner is really tough to trade, I think. not that he doesn't have value, because he obviously does, but because not a lot of teams that are in positions to make that big of a trade also have 11M in cap space to spend, plus he's got just that awkward amount of years left on his deal where he can't be immediately extended, so there's no way of knowing that he won't be a rental. So a team would have to move out cap to make space for him, and Toronto won't want any cap dumps, so a team would have to do even MORE navigating and changing around their entire roster to fit a player (who is definitely very good, obviously) who may not stick around and has a bad playoff reputation

I would love Marner but it would be very difficult to find room for him with the wild’s cap situation and current roster, so for that no sadly it doesn’t make sense

Teams where I see it make sense to move Marner where he'd fit:
Any team with more superstars with nobody to pass to (the CBJ's/CHI's of the world).

The biggest issue:
Cap room due to his large amount of money

Well I’m thinking the difference between the two contracts. If you’re purely looking to dump cap then you only have a few teams out there to do so with. All this assumes player waive the NTC
