Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. Murray, Matt
  2. 2023 1st round pick (BOS)
  3. 2024 5th round pick (CHI)
TOR
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
I Know Leafs fans will want the Mrazek trade 2.0, but this is Zaitsev 2.0 with the pics net "value" per Atlantic chart being #45 & the 5th
2.
CHI
  1. Boeser, Brock
  2. Myers, Tyler
  3. 2023 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Myers is future considerations and gets moved after his Summer bonus is paid.
VAN
  1. 2023 1st round pick (BOS)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Draft pick value on this trade is the equivalent of #61OA being included with Myers and Boeser to move them.
3.
CHI
  1. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
27OA
COL
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (CHI)
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
35OA + 67OA
Value slightly favors Avs on chart (as it should giving a 1st) and gives then 2 picks in first 4 rounds instead of just one.
4.
CHI
  1. Bailey, Josh
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (NYI)
5.
CHI
  1. Mantha, Anthony
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
The worst 2nd held in '25 draft
WSH
  1. Shalunov, Maxim [Reserve List]
Additional Details:
Contract in KHL runs 1 more season and I suspect better chance of Caps convincing a Russian to come play with Ovi than the Hawks will have of getting him back to NA.
6.
CHI
  1. Bankier, Caedan
  2. Spacek, David
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (VGK)
MIN
  1. Katchouk, Boris

  3. Roos, Filip
Additional Details:
Hawks flip 3 mid 20's minimal salary players that can help in the NHL and navigate cap buyouts for 2 good prospects and a future.

When are bonuses paid? I assume July1 which means the Tyler myers trade doesn’t work.

Leafs go nowhere near that deal. Easy pass and decline. We will be more than happy to keep him on LTIR

I'm also fine with the Murray trade.

He was on the bench in the playoffs which means his cap is going to need to be on the books for the start of the season....and I'm not a fan of the buyout option keeping $2m on the books for 24-25 when we'll need it most.

I tried explain it as Myers to the Hawks will be a future consideration of an initial trade with him being sent in a second move after bonus paid (put it into one trade to try to have all the value and costs in one spot)

Nice job, wojohawk! While some may quibble about the details, I conceptually like all of these deals except one. Your trades 1) get VAN out of cap hell - for a one-time price (which I assume their new team would prefer); 2) gives WAS cap flexibility; 3) does the same for TOR with Murray (whom last I knew wasn't injured but a healthy scratch later in the playoffs, so how can TOR LTIR him?); 4) Bailey is a clear cap dump; 5) MIN has to carefully navigate the cap while their playoff window is open, and gains three decent cost-controlled players who don't fit CHI's long-term time frame.

The only trade I'd hesitate on is COL... This draft is DEEP straight through three rounds; maybe even into the fourth. #27 MIGHT be only marginally better than either of #35 or #67, let alone both. Unless a player is there at #27 CHI believes they MUST have, I want two bites at the outstanding 2023 draft apple, rather than one.

Colorado trade was more in response to Davidson saying he won't be using all the Hawk picks they currently hold and trying to concolidate 2 into a better 1. Unfortunately, this AGM will keep Davidson's job safe since I ended up with the same number of top 100 picks.

I disagree with Davidson here, actually - at least, pertaining to THIS draft. The Hawks need prospects at EVERY level, and this is the year to make as many picks as possible, IMO. Those who succeed and get to the NHL won't all get there at the same time; they'll grow at different speeds and come up only when ready.

Sure, I'll just drop the picks coming from Chicago and add another 24 1st coming from Vancouver. Myers for 1 million and 6 in cap is just SLIGHTLY different than OEL who is owed 29 million and has 33 million in cap, but they are both overpriced D so there is that.

I agree a little bit with Davidson....we made 8 top 100 picks last draft and have 9 slated this, with 6 each already in the next 2 with more likely incoming from taking short term bad cap, flipping 1 year UFA's we sign (ala Domi), trading guys like TRad, Murphy, Tyler Johnson, Dickinson, Zaitsev, and probably from flipping some of the cap dumps with retention or as a year comes off the contract for guys on 2 year deals like Boesser. I am of the mind that I would not get to excited until guys actually start arriving and show they can play at the NHL level (cause there are going to be plenty of busts that never do). We currently have 3 NHL spots filled....Seth Jones as a #2/3 D, Reichel as a middle 6 wing (with potential of being a 2nd liner but need a little more NHL games to pencil him in there), and Bedard as a top line player (only question is will that be a center or wing). There are a ton of open spots yet to be filled at the NHL level much less having both the NHL and AHL levels overflowing with no spots. I am perfectly fine with consolidating a couple picks into one better one, or using one of the 2nds for a prospect taken a couple drafts ago (especially forwards or RHD) so you maybe add a prospect with an earlier arrival window, or even flipping into similar picks 2 or 3 drafts out.

Well, wojo, we'll soon find out, eh? Either way, it's an exciting time to be a Blackhawk fan.

Cheers

What happens if Bedard does the Lindros and says he'll never wear a Blackhawk jersey???

Don't see the Avs moving their '23 1st unless it's in a package for a 2C.
