I know you saved some cap space, but Edmundson is a blatant downgrade from Ceci to the point where it’s not even worth moving Ceci.

I would take Ceci in Detroit. Not sure on his value though.

That Isles fan was me, and it was hypothetical to see his price.
Think he needs new surroundings

Lmao no I'm an oilers fan. Look I've always been against moving a 2nd or more for Edmundson but if he's healthy and available for cheap I like the move. The 3rd is a few years away and Savoie doesn't have a spot in Edmonton. Defensive players on bad teams always seem worse then they are and it's not like Ceci is some amazing piece rn from what I saw in the playoffs. If Edmundson can get back to even close to what he was in the playoffs it's a great deal for Edmonton

Yeah I mean the price is probably a 3rd a couple years away or a 4th this upcoming draft. Isles are also short on cap tho so I don't know if he would be a fit for them

A veteran RD only signed for 2 years to help sustain their bottom 4 and get them into the playoffs? I mean it seems like a good fit to me, don't have to offer up much and fills a need for them

We're probably getting rid of Josh Bailey this off season (hopefully)
He was recently seen at Citi Field to boos from the crowd lol

The uneducated "Edmundson is washed" logic on this site is baffling, didn't realize there were so many misinformed hockey fans.

Nah he's not good, we want to improve and already have a bottom pair RD, we need a 2nd pairing and he's not it

I'm guessing I'm the "wild fan" he's referring to and yes, that was my initial thought process as well. HOWEVER, if we don't plan on being serious contenders next year (which we shouldn't imo), we may as well trade him this offseason. He fills a need for us and is a great all-around player but what's the point of keeping him when he'd be better served playing for a true contender?

What 2nd Pairing RD would be available? Severson is getting 6 mil+, Mayfield would be a longer commitment. Gudas I guess would be the option but what's stopping Florida from just keeping him?

Pionk, Girard, zadarov, Sean walker, Sean durzi, Addison, any of these is better then ceci and there not even thinking about it. I think ceci has negative value and does nothing for the Red Wings. He's basically a used car salesman at this point and has 0 value to wings

I feel like Ceci is definitely over-hated in this opinion. Now I won't argue whether he's a good fit for the wings or not since I'm not a red wings fan but Ceci most definitely does not have negative value. He's been a really solid bottom 4 guy and sure he's nothing special but he's definitely worth a 3rd if a team has room for him. He hasn't been special or a liability for Edmonton at all this last season giving him fair value. He played top pairing minutes (not a top pairing player obv). If the wings don't want him sure but given the defensive market a team will def pay a 3rd for him

You don't have to be interested in Yams but the hockey take of evaluating a player due to height might be one of the most shallow things ever. Bedard,Point,Debrincat,Guadreau, Marchand and Caulfield are all undersize and would be the Isles best player lmao.

However you want to spin it....He wouldn't play for us. We have a better version in Ruslan Iskhakov in Bridgeport and he has NO shot playing for the big club. Although you mentioned a few undersize players, all the ones you mentioned are star players....Yam isn't even close to their talent.

https://www.naturalstattrick.com/playercompare.php?fromseason=20202021&thruseason=20222023&stype=2&sit=all&score=all&stdoi=oi&rate=y&p1=8476879&p2=8476441&loc=B&gpfilt=none&fd=&td=&tgp=410&lines=single

My educated guess is If Ceci can't cut it playing there then Edmundson would be absolutely caved in.

Hard to argue with that logic, from a wings perspective lots of wings fans actually like him and want him for that price, I guess I'm just not one of those fans.
