Right? There are quite a few D cores I would take before this, and I may be one of the biggest EK fans in the world. That might not even be Top 5 in the East.

With no retention, Sharks definitely do that.

If they have an unexpectedly good year they can look to extend Nylander, if they're still bad, then they trade him with 50% retention at the deadline and get a massive haul.
