Hellebuyck starts with the 13th overall pick than probably UPL and another piece.

IMO any Helly trade would include #13 OA, there are a lot of teams interested in him and will pay a first and a good prospect for him. I also think thats too much to give up for Murphy.

Jets probably get a first for Helly without a condition elsewhere

WPG says no, but counters with the draft pick changing to BUF's #13 pick in this years draft and Olofsson changes to Krebs.

Hawks decline. Value is fair, but Johnson is the wrong hand shot. Hawks are real deep with LHD prospects, to the point I doubt they could get Johnson to sign and he would end up going UFA when he finishes college.

I get it. I've been using that same argument for a long time about CHI's LHD depth. Maybe I am biased, but as much as I've watched Johnson this season, I would definitely add another LHD if it is him. He's just that good. Also, if he doesn't sign with CHI, it's the team that holds his rights that receives the compensatory 2nd round pick. So, just look at him as an additional 2nd round pick.

I though about both things and you are probably right on both accounts, but the compensation would be pick 31 in round 2 and I think there would be a real danger he would use the college grad UFA loophole to find an easier path to an NHL roster. Absolute worst case scenerio you get 2 2nds. and a 3rd and despite the quantity of LHD prospects, until a couple actually prove something in the NHL they are all suspects and we know statistically more than half will bust/never amount to much. In the end, there is nothing stopping us from flipping a couple of the LHD prospects to fill other needs too.

You talked me into it...deal.

haha. Yeah. I had those same thoughts. All of our LHD are pretty well regarded in CHI's system and to scouts around the league. So, most of them could be moved to address other needs if they get passed over by another player for one reason or another. I still doubt CHI makes this move. But I think it could definitely make sense depending on how you want to look at it.

No to Krebs. Only roster piece available this year is Olofsson (or Jokiharju, if the offer is really good). If you don't like him, we could give you 2024/2nd or a B-prospect -- we have some good ones. 2023/13OA seems like a given to me.

Summer 2024 will see the Sabres moving players from the roster because the numbers game will just be unsustainable. If you like Krebsie now, you'll love him next year.
