I don't see why COL wouldn't want to draft considering the cap crunch they are facing, having to resign Sharangovich wouldn't help with that.

Most of the contracts look good.

Avs aren’t moving a 2023 1st for Yegor Sharangovich.

Sharangovich, if moved, probably brings back a higher priced veteran or in futures, a 2nd and lesser prospect. Getting a 1st rounder, even a late one, would be a surprise.

I mean the cap crunch is kind of exaggerated especially considering they have Landeskog LTIR money but they do have to be prudent.

I'd think the Avs could afford to part with their 2024 1st for Sharangovich but they'd probably rather not

Totally understandable. Would adding some sort of mid/late pick or a guy like Walsh make it closer?

You’re probably right at the end of he day, however I don’t believe his value is far off to that of a late 1st.

Well I meant going forward in the long-term, they are still after a 2C, maybe they reup Toews. The cap is going to go up a ton but Rantanen and Makar will need extensions soon enough.

Oh I don’t disagree at all. I do think they still want Newhook to be the 2C but considering the injury problems last year and knowing they’re short a top line winger they can’t just give the 2C spot to Newhook he has to take it and they have to have a guy in place that can do it if he doesn’t take it. But you are spot on the cap increases are going Makar and Rantanen they can’t count on that space to fill other spots.

I think Sharangovich would fit the Avs system very well. He’s a Top 9 fwd that has put up 20 goals and is a solid on the PK.

That being said, him alone isn’t enough for Pick #27. If you throw in a 3rd and maybe their 2024 5th with Sharangovich, that could get the deal done. Truthfully, I thought the Avs overpaid for Ellen and should’ve spent their 2023 First on acquiring a cost controlled 2C or winger at the deadline.

How much would we have to add?

To turn Sharangovich into a 1st?

Don’t know what Colorado’s needs are, other than 2C. But it would probably require another inexpensive NHL-ready player. Too many of our guys are without contracts to assess their trade value. Maybe a super-cheap McLeod. Bahl probably. Bastian maybe, but probably not. Blackwood would not. Nor Boqvist.

Walsh possibly. For instance, I could see a analytic team putting up a late 1st for Sharangovich and Walsh. But if we are not re-signing Severson, we will likely need Walsh next year as Nemec seasons in Utica. Foote probably in same boat (has value but will be needed) and probably is on roster next year.

Easiest answer would be Sharangovich + our 2nd.
