Trades
1.
TOR
SJS
  1. Marner, Mitchell
Additional Details:
SJ wants to move Karlsson, but will be hard to make a deal work that doesn't involve a big salary going the other way.

With two years on Marner's deal, they have plenty of time to decide if they want to move him for more futures than they could get for EK.

Leafs get elite RHD with salary retained and cap-friendly forward.
2.
CGY
  1. Brodie, TJ ($1,250,000 retained)
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Leafs add size. Flames get Brodie back. Retained salary make the cap hits a wash. Little sweetener from Leafs side.
3.
TOR
  1. Xhekaj, Arber
  2. 2023 4th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
More size
4.
NYR
  1. McCabe, Jake
  2. Robertson, Nicholas
  3. 2023 4th round pick (PIT)
  4. 2025 5th round pick (CHI)

Trading Marner for EK65 is a very bad idea imo.

San Jose probably wants young assets or picks - not a player that'll leave them in two years.

They'll be able to trade him at either deadline for more than they'd dream about getting for Karlsson.

Or they can cut out the middle man and trade a 100 point defenseman for his maximum value/a more enticing offer.
He may get a Marner-sized offer in the post season, but probably not at the TDL.

Maybe not, but either way they're still stuck with 18M in retention. If you want all that, you can forget Barabanov, and probably need to add.

He is a fan favorite and is the type of player that you need to get through the playoffs. He may not be a core peice but he plays an important role for the Habs. Also the Habs aren't trading him tithe Leafs cause they don't want to have to face him four times a year for the next 5-10 years and in any playoff series in there too lol

Basically his value to Montreal outweighs his market value

Are you serious? Liljegren is 10x better than Xhekaj. 89% War percentile compared to 0%

All while playing vs harder matchups. You take this deal every day of the year and id send an extra pick just because i feel bad at this fleecing
