Can't see Tampa trading Cernak after signing him to a long term extension. And that return is pretty underwhelming too

Buffalo fans seem to think Krebs is a top tier player with the way some talk about him ? Can he be really good yeah maybe is he right now no.

He plays his role well, good defensively and on the Forecheck.

I see the Sabres taking that deal. I love Krebs, but with Mitts finding his game he would be a 4th line center, Cernak is exactly to a T what the Sabres need so I think they would jump on this.

He's very good, hes just better defensively than all of the other kids so they play him with scrubs usually. If he was playing with tage or cozens he's right up there with quinn or peterka, hes just been the odd man out. Numbers won't show that though. Both Buffalo and Tampa probably decline because of fit imo. If one of the teams were to accept its buffalo, but krebs probably has more value than what most people see on the surface.

I Sabres fans love him because he is a gritty team player with 2C upside. He is a big energy guy and seems to be a glue guy in the locker room. So he is a good player, but with all the talented players coming up in the Sabres pipeline I think he us moveable for the right player, and Cernak would be that player IMO.

Fair enough some however seem to think much higher of him . I admit there is growth potential, just not there yet anyway.

It was also widely reported that Adams held out in the Eichel trade until Krebs was specifically included - the Sabres are not going to give up on him so soon without seeing him develop further. Too many Sabre fans seemed to get stuck on Krebs getting 4th line minutes last season in between checking wingers, look at his minimal offensive stats and assume he's just going to be that the rest of his NHL career and therefore is an expendable spare part. It's clear from hearing how Adams and Granato speak about him that they see him in higher regard.

See above on Krebs; as for Mittelstadt, if he'd be the one winning out over Krebs for a roster spot, you can bet it wouldn't be to center the 4th line based on how he produced offensively last season and how glowing Granato spoke about him and used him in key situations.

I don't think they would even if Cernak would be a nice piece to add.....

Can't see TB doing it though they DON'T sign guys to long term extensions, and trade them before it kicks in.

I agree, I dont see Tampa doing this, but if they would I think the Sabres should 100% jump on it.

I guess the best way to prevent Cernak from elbowing your players in the head would be to acquire him. Might make for some awkwardness in the locker room though. Especially with Dahlin and Okposo.

Krebs is expendable. He won't grow into 1C or 2C, because those spots are taken. 3th / 4th line center could be found on waivers / FA, not even looking at deep pipeline of prospects that Sabres have. If Sabres could add that missing piece in RHD, they should do it.
I don't know if they would consider Cernak, because of his history against Dahlin, but I all for trading Krebs for proven, defensive minded top pair RHD.

You're entitled to your opinion of what you want but I don't think it meshes with all of the signals coming from the Sabres - aside from the value they say they see in Krebs, they also keep pointing out how they see Jokiharju as part of their top 4, despite what all of the fans think or want.

Why not? A trade like that solidifies the top-four for years to come (once Dahlin and Power sign extensions.

That's kind of a dream trade for me.

I know TB wouldn't and I have read Sabres fans on here acting like Krebs is Brayden Point or something

I agree, but the difference is that, there wasn't any rumour that Krebs would get player like Cernak. If that would be true, Adams should strongly consider that, since 3rd line center is easier to replace than top line RHD
