Start the car. Yeah I think he'll get at least a 1st if moved at the deadline, so that doesn't make sense to me. Especially if you consider that the Flames got him for a 1st, plus Heinaman(good prospect recent 2nd round pick), and a 5th. Granted he had more term, but he also wasn't coming off a career season.

I can't see Toffoli returning a 1st at the deadline because he'd be a pure rental. The reason you'd move a 1st for him now is that he'd be there all year. A conditional 2nd that becomes a 1st, maybe. I can't see a straight 1st because it was a career year

Well GMs always pay 1st at TDL. Just look at the past TDL, the same Bertuzzi, there were other trades with 1st.

I think the value of a $4.5M cap hit for a 34G, 73P player is very valuable to teams in a cap crunch that need to add. As you said I think he will bring a better return if he's traded on draft day.

PS: just look at what Jeannot got lol.

Bertuzzi is also a lot younger than Toffoli

Look at the deals that involved 1sts, McCabe, ROR, Horvat, Tarasenko, Meier, Bertuzzi, Orlov, Jeannot... all of the pure rentals are better than Toffoli. Guys like Jeannot and McCabe have term or Jeannot is an RFA so I'm including that as term

Depends on the extension, but I’d take that for CBJ.

JG and Lindholm reunited. Still get to keep 3OA, take Carlsson or Smith, give them some breathing room and eventually let them take 1C from EL.

Was Tarasenko better than Toffoli last year? Or maybe ROR's injury riddled season with 30pts and -20. I mean they had better careers for sure, but they weren't better players last season.

If Toffoli were to be dealt to a team that isn’t Carolina at the 24 deadline, assuming he replicates it comes close to replicating this year’s performance, he probably can get a first to be a rental. In the off-season, where he is more likely to be dealt, I mentioned this in another post, but I don’t see him getting any more than Arvidsson. A 2nd and either Drury or Suzuki is fair for Toffoli.

Age means nothing with rentals.

You are trolling if you think all those guys are better than Toffoli

Too much for Lindholm for me. I'm interested in a deal of Sillinger + 23 + a spare part or 2 for Lindholm extended, but adding in Ceulemans as well just doesn't mKe it worth imo.
