I think that’s a nice trade especially considering NYR already has Fox & Trouba on the right side and having a 3rd pair RHD like Braden is a bit of a luxury. Ideally I’d imagine they’d prefer to keep Schneider over Trouba considering his age and salary but for those same reasons it would prove rather difficult to move him instead.

Trouba will be hard to move especially given his NMC. NYR only has Kakko as a decent Rw option. Jack Quinn has 2 years left on ECL. This gives NYR one more year of cost control. BUF gets a young physical d man that they can sign for long-term. It is a deal that is tough but eventually benefits both clubs.

Yeah, I think you did good. I guess it’s no coincidence that you are a fan of both teams.

Jack Quinn is a crucial part of our future, no shot GMKA trades his 2nd line winger for a 3rd pair dman.

That is fine by me, I was just throwing out a idé. We probably can lift up Othmann anyway. And Schneider will replace Trouba after next season. So I am good with that 😌

honestly I think Buffalo doesn't trade Quinn at all, GMKA has talked very highly of him and stated multiple times he's a part of the future.

And with good reason. He is a very talented young player. And from NYR Schneider is a none movable player. He is basically a young Trouba, slightly better hands and skating. The whole idea was to swap position of strength for position of weakness.
But for NYR it also much rather sign Fast a player proven to play with Panarin and get the most out of Breadman. I'm sure NYR fans feels the same about Schneider as BUF fans feels for Quinn.

The pick of Quinn was killed by my Sabres fans friends. Now they love him… just as fickle as us!! Lol

I asked them about Miller for Quinn … and they said no way also 🤷‍♂️

Miller is a lefty so I think that is the problem. Too bad. We just have to live the dream in EA Sports then.

I see from BUF fans' responses they are adamant about not trading Quinn...which probably indicates this is a trade of comparable value. I mean the trade value I'm putting on Schneider here is that 95% of the trade requests from other teams seem to demand Schneider going the other way! You gotta give to get- yet BUF fans in this instance don't seem to want to accept that.

But I'll approach this from a different angle...great teams seem to be built down the middle and from the defense out. Quinn might be the best player in this deal- and we'll see over time who has the better career- but Schneider is seen as a pillar of the NYR D for years to come. There is a reason so many execs have checked on him. Don't want to diminish Quinn- but wingers are more replaceable than solid Dmen...and in Schneider NYR have a guy with size, good skating, puck moving ability, and a RH shot. Guys like Schneider are at a premium. And NYR need to add Sykora?? NYR have plans for both of these guys- Schneider to replace Trouba and Sykora to eventually be the mid 6 pest every real good team needs. So thanks- but I'll pass on this trade.

I’ll throw another wrinkle here:
Quinn is our best/most promising winger player/prospect under 24. On the other hand, Schneider would be behind Dahlin, Power, and likely Samuelson. While currently the Sabres are strong at wing and weak at D, the Sabres can better fix the current D weakness without sacrificing our future strength at W.

It’s an interesting idea, but I think you had it right the first time that both teams won’t want to give up those specific players.

Yes, mostly likely wouldn't. And if NYR adds.

Buffalo could look at Schneider as a long-term fit. But they won’t give up Quinn or young current roster talent. I would say draft picks or prospects that haven’t yet made the team aside from Savoie might be in play.

A lot of fans wanted the Sabres to pick lundell instead of Quinn in the draft. The Quinn lit the AHL on fire as a 20 year old and had a good first season in the NHL last year. He looks like he will be a solid 1RW in a year or two.

The problem with that is the win now window NYR have put themselves in. I rather wait one year and trade Trouba and Kreider in that case for picks.
