Can’t see them not resigning E Johnson, he’s probably take a big discount aswell.

Only future problem really is fitting Landy back in 24-25
Middlestadt if he produces anywhere close to what he did in buffalo this year will be in for a big payday

Barbashev they probably won’t be able to move at a cap hit of 5.5 mill he’s worth more around 4-4.5.

Schiefele they are selling big time on the future and giving a lot of assets for a player they have literally no chance at resigning, he will want 8 mill and Colorado just can’t afford that.

I’d say they’d just be better off hoping newhook can maybe break through this wall he is stuck in and the best way the could do that is by surrounding him with strong wingers that can carry. id say they need rantanen and then a guy like Barbashev with him.

They could even get a guy like ROR let newhook play wing on his line so he can learn from him somewhat and then allow newhook to get PP2 draws or even let newhook take some Offensive zone draws and allow ROR to take the majority of defensive zone draws

Girard is not the type defenseman Buffalo needs.

This doesn't do much for buffalo. We need defensive d, the kind that can help in the corners and in front of the net. Looking to free up power to do more stuff- for example, see dahlins play since being paired with Samuelsson (obviously a coach that took the leash off factors in, but pairing him with a good defensive d makes the whole thing work). Malgin doesn't add anything for us. If you look at our forwards, we have size in our top 9 with cozens, Thompson, and tuch, but there's a lot of smaller skill forwards coming, guys like- savoie, Rosen, kulich, ostlund, and rousek. Most of these guys were first round picks by this gm. Bringing a guy like malgin in to compete for a spot that really isn't there, not really doing malgin any favors either. The team has already added Greenway and stillman in an attempt to help with a nonexistent physical presence. Not picking on the avs players, just the fit couldn't be worse for us.

CHI has no interest in MacDermid. But, you could probably still get a late round pick for him from someone.

You could go ROR and Newhook at 2C and 3C and keep Girard, Malgin, and a 1st round pick or have Scheifle and Mittlestadt, yeah that’s not even close.

Scuttlebut is EJ wants multiple years for fair AAV. I'm thinking a Suter type deal. He'll have to get this from Anaheim, where he already has a vacation home.
