I checked the Detroit depth charts on here before proposing the trade. If you don't think Gryz is an upgrade over a guy like Maatta, I can't help you.

Hes not an upgrade over maata, not for what the wings need or want back there. Yzerman resigned him for a reason and doesn't draft small dmen for another reason. Maata did exactly what we wanted him to do + more.

There is literally nothing on Boston that we would want for zadina, so the trade doesn't happen unless you want to give up lysell which obviously you don't.

Lastly obviously bruins have better players then zadina and it's not close, but none of them are going to be available for him. You aren't trading McAvoy and that's really the only RD we would want or need

Griz could be the second best LHD, that's debatable, but we are committed to Maatta and Chiarot. That trade is honestly a gift for Detroit, we take that and just trade him elsewhere for more. Zadina deserves a fresh start.

What makes you think we have no desire to keep Zadina? He has not turned out to be what we hoped he would be with such a high pick, but his analytics are fantastic, he's very good defensively, has a modest caphit and is a great teammate. For a bottom 6 guy that we can move up and down the lineup, I see no reason to move him unless it adds value.

I agree Zadina could use a fresh start, but this trade ain't it. There's a reason Gryz was a healthy scratch in the playoffs and he has nowhere near the value some think. The whole "flip them for more" mentality is honestly just silly and almost never happens, as they would just trade more in the initial trade.

Serious question….why not keep Ullmark, trade Swayman? I get the numbers game and Swayman will be less $$, but they could get a lot more in a trade. Bruins don’t have a ton of ammo to use. Could be nice to get some picks and prospects to right-size the roster.

No they really don't. Consensus among Kings fans is that they'll give up a 2024 2nd for Ullmark.

If you ask me, I think Wings should just keep him. He's still an NHL caliber player, which is better than what we're most likely to get for him. Plus, if he learns how to shoot the puck again, he'll be a LOT better.

In the end they may not have a choice, with Ullys 16 team NTC it’s possible he’s untradeable.
