Jesse seems like he's going to be brought back to Carolina on a multi-year deal at $1m

It looks very much like Puljujarvi is going to be extended. Carolina wanted him forever, they're not going to get rid of him after 3 months

I like the idea of taking a shot on low end guys like Sharangovich and Puljujarvi. Also think that value on the Colton deal is fair for both sides. The contract you gave Jeannot is somehow bad for both sides. There is no way he commits that low of an AAV for that long, especially after you look at how much the Lightning gave up for him. From the team's perspective, you're signing a player who did absolutely nothing for you to an eight year deal. The Nick Paul contract last year made a bit more sense because we know his role and you know what you're getting from him. Jeannot is a massive question mark, I feel like a 1-2 year deal would work best for both parties.

You think so? You're a Canes fan so you probably know more than me but I feel like if that were the case, he'd be playing in the playoffs (especially considering there were three winger injuries in the playoffs).

I think Colton and Sharangovich have similar value. So no third going back. And habs gladly accepts that deal

He did play in the postseason, especially when Teravainen was injured. He's a long-term replacement for Jesper Fast. Young, cost-controlled, excellent defensively, and doesn't provide a lot of scoring. He was built to be a Carolina Hurricane. I cannot think of someone that matches this teams MO any better

Devils accept and I think that's a fair value trade. Maybe a prospect like Reilly Walsh gets thrown in but can't see much more

Canes fan here... I think management see him as a reclamation project a la KK and with a reclamation project you need time

I'm deducing that this Jeannot deal is JBB's hill to die on. Its the first trade he's done where it looks terrible but he said that Jeannot looked really good before his injury and it was what he envisioned for the team. He also said that he was pestering Poile about Jeannot for years but Poile didn't want to trade him. I was thinking longterm from his perspective but if it goes south this would be one of the things brought up during his exit.

That would be great value if the canes did that. I'm thinking some smarter gms would fight for him if he hits the market

Bahl likely has more value to the Devils than Ross Colton to begin with, wouldn't make any sense at all for the Devils to involve him in a deal for Colton.
In the same vein, Ross Colton doesn't fill any need whatsoever for the Devils. Dealing Yegor for Colton reads like making a trade just for the sake of it to me.

In my head Haula's not resigning and Mcloud and Colton make up a nice shutdown line with someone. I agree if Bahl was thrown in tampa would have to add but there isn't much to throw in so it wouldn't work

I respect that from the management's perspective but I still don't like it for the player. Jeannot knows how good he was in 2021-22, he won't take $1.5M AAV for max length. The injury that occurred late in the regular season may have lingered into the playoffs, which didn't really give him a chance to prove himself. Jeannot scores a few big goals that series and you're talking a brand new AAV number.

If that's the case, I don't mind it for Carolina, especially considering you gave up pretty much no assets for him. Only problem becomes the contract, but that should be fine as long as Puljujarvi is reasonable.

Can you envision Colton on the first or second line next season? A longterm deal at around 3 million for a top 6 winger would be awesome but another 3 million guy in the bottom 6 would be tough

I have watched a lot of hockey over the years and there is nothing more confusing to me than the fact that for a solid 2-3 months in 2019 Myers and Sanheim were the best 2nd pairing in the NHL and now Myers is an AHLer at best and Sanheim is realistically a 3rd pairing guy on a good team. They were dominating teams for like 2-3 months it’s maddening

Confusing thing about Myers is he has everything like size, can skate, big shot but its like some low iq plays or like he's nervous or something

Yeah I mean no offense to the guy, cause I don’t think it’s nerves he’s been in the league for years now, but he has like no hockey IQ. It was also one of the big reasons he went undrafted
