canucks likely accept.. 1st + 2nd to move up with the other 2nd for brock makes sense.

they may want 33 though.. 11 is premium is this draft

I don't necessarily like the idea of being out of the 2nd round entirely. But, the trades aren't bad.

Canucks ask to replace one of those second round picks with the 33rd overall because of how top loaded this draft is

I don’t think it would happen, and the hawks are already using 35* to have PIT move out of the first round.

Treliving isn't going to want to move back 20+ spots in a loaded draft... it's going to be 28+Murray for rebuilding team's second or Murray will get bought out

I don't think Pittsburgh's in enough of a cap crunch to warrant using the 1st to dump cap. Would probably rather use it on a forward to play with Crosby/Malkin

How is 11 a premium in this draft? It should be the exact opposite...a deep draft means you can get quality NHLers in the end of the 1st and 2nd.

I'm for taking dumps to move up in the draft, but a deep draft means 2nd round picks can very well be NHLers. I don't like the idea of losing all those 2nds

It’s not necessarily deep as it is top loaded. The high end talent tapers off after 15

Well, it is sort of both. But more so deep. That is all anyone has been saying for the past 2 years, this draft is so exceptional because of its depth.

The top 10 is loaded in this draft. Decent chance at least 1 player from the top 10 drops to 11.

"Haven’t tested this one yet.. the idea for PIT is to clear some cap ~2mil, solidify some D, and get two more picks in 23."
- Clear some cap: The Pens are currently projected at $20.2M in cap space (only 7 teams have more) and not many key players to resign.
- Solidify some D: Murphy's better defensively, but Petry's defense isn't bad and he's still much better overall. If the Pens get a shutdown guy, he would be best used paired with Petry or Letang, not replacing Petry IMO.

I wouldn't trade Petry for Murphy 1 for 1, and the Pens' 1st shouldn't be used in a cap dump (which Petry isn't and I don't know why people think he is).

You saying that 15 is the taper point is the 1st time I've heard anyone say that. I've read plenty on the 6-8. Potentially 1 of them dropping a spot. I've read plenty on guys that would traditionally be in the teens like Daniil But, Simashev, Gulyayev dropping to the 20's or potentially 30's due to the Russia thing. I've even read that a guy like Cristall having a Draft Year 1.76 PPG in the WHL...ahead of Draisaitl, Barzal, Jarvis, Point, RNH, Reinhart...etc... falling into to late teens because of his skating. There's even an article below about plenty of 1st round talent in the 2nd round. From everyone I've read....the #11 is not MORE special this year than any other year. BUT those late 1st and 2nds could be. There are obvious risks too, but the point is the high end talent in the late 1st/2nd rounds.

https://www.bleachernation.com/blackhawks/2023/01/18/what-scouts-are-saying-about-the-depth-of-the-2023-nhl-draft/

Article from the Blackhawks point of view...admittedly could be bias.

Outside of the top 4, there is a pretty standard level of talent. So, again, this draft is exceptional because of its depth. Honestly, it's fun to dream about getting more first round picks, but if CHI were to just stick with what they already have, I would be more than happy. Because of the depth of this draft, I know we are going to get great players no matter what. Which, realistically, makes it not very urgent to move up.

My biggest fear is that we have another Kevin Hayes on our hands down the road. (I actually don't blame any kids for doing it either. You only get 1 life/1 career. Do what you think is best.) Sure, it could be a little bit mitigated if we draft from Europe/Russia due to rights length, but all in all...that's one of the reasons I don't mind moving a 2nd or two to get into the 1st.

Oh yeah. I agree. I just wouldn't want to get out of the 2nd entirely. And I definitely wouldn't want to move CHI's own 2nd, unless we were to acquire another early 2nd somehow.

Also can we stop trying to give Domi 4-5 years. Dude is just not that good. He looked great on the Hawks because of all the 1st Line/PP1 time. He is a middle 6 / 3rd line forward at best. He can fill in higher for injuries, but I don't want to commit 4-5 years for him.

I'd be willing to go 3 years on Domi, but I don't wanna go above 3.5-4M.

I mean... I get it, but CHI can afford to overpay to entice him to come back without causing any trouble, and he is already a fan favorite. Also, between his regular season play and playoff performance, he has turned his career trajectory around and earned the right to command a decent pay day. So, if CHI can't pay it he will absolutely go elsewhere.

Matt Murray comes with a 3rd but the Leafs need to trade a 1st? Stop. This has been posted a million times to almost every team in the league. Y’all need to stop getting horny over adding another 1st. The Leafs DO NOT have a cap crunch.
