Because they would have just taken Savoie if they wanted him. Granted thats a pretty solid return. But still nah

No deal then since buffalo would be delusional to make that trade.

Then you understand that so would Columbus be to trade Jiricek. Good talk.

OPs trade is at least fair value/an overpayment from the sabres. Yours is not.

Yes they could have, know they have alot of D on both sides. Just a strength for Strength trade between teams.

Why Columbus is dealing for a area of Strength. You guys have a ton of D

Only if you think Columbus could consider any deal for Jiricek, which they would not. They're about to draft a center at 3OA. They have no need for Savoie and trading Jiricek would only make them weaker. My silly counter-proposal was made to highlight that proposals for Jiricek are just as absurd as proposals for Power, not a serious offer.

It was just a silly counter-offer to illustrate that Jiricek is as immovable as Power for you guys, not a serious offer (although as a UMich fan, I'm a big fan of Power, lol)

Understand, I think it's a pretty fair offer though. But definitely see where you are coming from.

Here's an exercise if you like. Jiricek and reinbacher are viewed as very similar players value-wise (see the athletic from today, ranking the top players from last year's draft combined with this years). Assuming that jiricek is a no-go, and I think you have to assume montreal doesn't take reinbacher at 5, would you offer a similar package to move up for reinbacher. My only suggestion is, it's gonna have to be this year's first, nobody is moving out of the top 10 this year without at least 13oa and significant sweeteners. Personally I would just hope willander is there at 13, that's close enough for me.

Picks 13 and 39 should be enough to go up to at least 7 and only a very little valuation difference for 6.

It should be, but with the talent in the top 10 this year, could make it a bit more expensive.

Every team assigns different valuations to its pick based on a number of different factors. What you consider fair value may not give the other team what they want.

Buffalo just needs a defensive RD or two. Don’t have to target the elite guys. The next Perbix or Marino.

Not really, on the right side Columbus has 2 top 4 RHD prospects with Jiricek and Cuelamens with a bunch of 3rd pair options in Peeke, Blankenburg, Boqvist and Bjork. On the left side they have Mateychuk, Svozil and Knazko.

Just because we have a lot of them doesn’t mean they are are strong on that side and honestly in its entirety Columbus’s d core is very week right now with Werenski being the only top 4 defenseman we have.

True, but Jiricek would make are Top 4 D 24 and younger and soon to be locked up long term.

and ryan johnson might be that guy after a year in the A. he could pair with power and take on the same role samuelsson does with dahlin.

Very true, but with Samuelsson's injury issues and with Johnson and Jiricek it gives you options.

Do you think johnson is going to be good, I'm not optimistic myself. He sounds like a left handed pysyk to me, which might be ok with a guy like Lyubushkin on the 3rd pair, but I don't think I would expect much more than that if we are actually going to be a good team.

Yes I expect him to be pretty good. He's got a very good transition game. I know he won't be as Physical as Samuelsson but his overall game will be better.
