As a flyers fan I accept in a second. We don't know what Coots is anymore, hasn't played since December 2021. Hayes is on his way out anyway, but getting out of 7 years of Coots contract is a blessing at this point.

I'm not opposed to a contract swap of Coots or Hayes with Johansen, but this is just silly

This is the only answer, if someone wants this kinda package for Coots and Hayes they have to be gone. We are rebuilding and have no clue what Coots will be for the next 8 years that he is signed for

don't see why on earth the Preds would do this. Too much risk and they give up a lot of quality pieces

You could probably swap Evangelista with Johansen, take out the 3rd and Philly still accepts

You dont give up that kind of return in the hopes that someone who has barely played over the past 3 seasons is going to come and save the day.

That's the thing... Nashville doesn't need a 'Savoir'... they just need competent. The Preds just missed the playoffs without their top forward in Forsburg, and their top 'C' from a points perspective was Novak with 43 (granted in 51 games).

Hayes alone would/could be considered No. 1 C on this team being that was his role in Philly. Taking the chance on Couturier is just the ability to go way over the top if he can even get back to 75% of what he was.

Couturier is a huge gamble for a team that has been mediocre for 4 years now. Nashville needs to accept that it needs to rebuild. Giving up two really good prospects, a 1st and various other picks is too much.

Past 5 seasons when Couturier was producing good - 305 games played, 110G, 159A, 269P. 75% would be 22G 32A 54P per 82 games. Thats less than Novaks rate for last season. You need him at atleast 90% for him to make an actual improvement on Novaks production rate for last season. Throw in a caphit, years of contract left, and medical uncertainty it is just way too much to give up.

Hayes best offensive seasons are 40-50 points. Parssinen just had that rate as a 22 year old with limited minutes. Glass as well. Why waste assets just to impede younger players growth and complicate our cap? Heck johansen is still good enough for that.
