That and why would CGY do that Toffoli is completely a good player and Ottawa would want draft picks prospects and young Nhlers

Why’s that? Toffoli had more points last season and Ottawa isn’t exactly in the drivers seat with him requesting to be traded.

Calgary needs to get faster, that’s why they do it.

Toffoli is 6 years older than Cat and Ottawa won’t re-sign him so it’s a useless move

BUF - Accepts
OTT Rejects - They will want a 1st coming back. Toffoli is great, but it is a Band-Aid on a bad situation. They will want to add draft capital to give them options to recoup what they spent.
COL deal - I'd rather calgary acquire an additional 1st than take back Girard. The farm is very dry and landeskog is only out 1 year. Toffoli makes more sense for them.
PIT- Dubas might do that. I'm guessing his mandate is to make them competitive until the big 3 retire.
PHI - Konecny is a great player on a good contract. Many teams could top a late first, a cap dump and a 2nd and 3rd round pick
CAR - Backlund is great and I could see the fit, but I would see it as a deadline deal in 2024. With everyone salivating over this draft, picks will be expensive.

i have been told a time or 5 here that the flames do not need a LD?

I think they move girard or toews only for a center.

Mangiapane is worth it: he has a crazy high shooting percentage. Last year was an anomaly. Like most flames players Sutter killed their offensive creativity. It happened with Iginla and koitar as well. Most those players will rebound well.

Mangiapane isn't a fit though. COL could use Toffoli who put up 70+ points, is a UFA next year and fills the hole Landeskog will leave next year. He also makes under 5MM

lol yes they do Tanev is a perfect fit. most teams over pay for worse d-men for fewer games at the deadline the BUF would here for a full season of tanev. Sabres gave up a 2nd for jordan freakin greenway but they wont do this? Are they going for a lottery pick again?

Below are the GSVA's for the defense on Calgary and Buffalo last year. Other than Weegar, Tanev had the highest defensive component of any player. His overall GSVA was also Higher than Owen power and anyone not named Dahlin on Buffalo. Considering Buffalos D line had only two player with positive GSVAs, yes they would jump at that trade to provide stability on the back end.

Kudos on the research but it still won't happen for a defenseman turning 34 this season on an expiring deal as a rental - something Adams has repeatedly said he's not interested in as 'quick fixes'. The Sabres would have to either re-sign him next summer at close to the same amount or go through the shopping process for a top 4 D all over again next summer. Just because it helps Calgary's cap situation doesn't make it a good deal for Buffalo.
