Michkov Hopium

Created by: JoeROFLCOPTER
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 10, 2023
Published: Jun. 10, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With the top 4 in the draft looking more and more like:
1 - Bedard
2 - Fantilli
3 - Carlsson
4 - Smith

I think Detroit REALLY needs to look long and hard about a trade up to 5 and nab Michkov.
The KHL scare is just BS - he's going to be developing for probably 3 years anyways, why not have that be in the best league in the world.

So my proposal:

DET Receives: 5OA+31/32OA
MTL Receives: 9OA+17OA

I've proposed this offer a few times to a few Canadiens fans and they all say around the same thing;
"If neither Smith or Carlsson is there, sure"

This was a bit ago, and opinion may have changed as Reinbacher (who they'd probably want the most) seems to be ranked higher than a few weeks ago, but not sure. Also, public opinion about Michkov could have changed, so there's also that.
I think any team that passes on this kid (except for Chicago) is gonna feel real stupid.

Let me know what you guys think, and or if the trade is fair. I don't really care how much Detroit has to pay to get this kid, nor do I think Yzerman is scared that he won't come considering he's buddies with one of the top coaches in that league and drafted one of Michkov's teammates.

Is Igor Fedotov still in Russia? Has he been sent to fight in Ukraine?

If Yzerman believes that Michkov is legit then I’m all for this trade.
Plus, if the kid shows he’s ready for the NHL(or if Detroit just wants him there) what better team to sneak a future star out of Russia???

It's been done before; who says it can't happen again?
Michkov is a stud; best Russian prospect in the KHL since Ovi (and arguably better).
Taking a swing on him is no different than any other prospect.

If we can get Leonard at 9 then ya, but that most likely won't be the case because of Philly. We prob have to decline. Leonard really gives me Tkachuk vibes and MTL can't pass on that

Happy for the kid. Seriously.

I don't trust the guy who runs by the name of a darling Canadian dish.

It really depends on how Montreal thinks this draft goes; I cannot disagree there. Although, I do think it'd be safe to bet that one of Leonard or Reinbacher will be at 9.
Either way, I think it'd be stupid of Montreal to not take Michkov.

No one really does; it's a cruddy situation. But, I don't doubt Michkov will come to the NHL, and if he's picky about his team, I don't doubt the Red Wings are on his picky list due to the Russian 5.

The Russian 5, the good old days! Scotty didn't have to coach them, he just let them play.

Not that Ben Johnson. Go back to the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. Sprint 100m.

Benny Boy took too many roids. Never knew if he was really a Canadian or not. He'd say he was Jamaican sometimes. Kind of like Brian Adams. Canadian one day. British the next. Big flip-flopper. Really cut me like a knife.

I laughed when Shanny said Vladdy would always somehow end up with a breakaway and score. 😂

Carl Lewis was also juicing but somehow didn't fail the roid test like he did in the US trials. But he's golden.
