Why would Wash give up a 2nd to move Matha if Ari will trade a 5th for him?

Substitute Alex Iafallo for Gabe Vilardi and we could do that deal.

Kings were fully on board with helping Vilardi to get where he needs to be for so long. You actually think after his best season and kings fans finally see the player he was drafted to be just traded away for a goalie that will be UFA??

You’re not getting him for a soon to be UFA. I wouldnt trade him 1 for 1 for Hellybuck.

Bruins need either a C, a C prospect, or picks, and they need some cap relief. They probably prefer the C prospect or picks actually, because Vilardi's next cap hit will be approaching Ullmark's. LAK are more likely to trade an aging roster player with some juice left in the tank rather than an up-and-coming stud who just happens to be in an RFA year. The Bruins simply don't need that.

I'd love to have Vilardi on the B's but it seems unrealistic. The more I think about it, there is probably not a mutually beneficial deal between these two teams unless they make some more deals before-hand. Both teams are already severely limited by the cap.

AZ passes - you want to get rid of 5.7 cap for middle 6. AZ isnt going to gift you a pick for it. He may need change of scenery but dont know if he fits into AZ rebuild. BTW AZ has no cap floor issues, they have 8/9 spots and are 4 mil under now.

The Kings are basically a goaltender away from being a legitimate contender. I love Villardi’s upside. Some pretty fascinating top shelf skills (those hands), but some pretty big flaws as well. I’d at least want to know Hellebuck’s long term contract requirements before making such a bold statement.

I love Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. I don’t recommend trading for random second round centers thinking they will turn into all stars. That seems to be LA fans goalie strategy, which seems pretty reckless with that talented of a team.

I like Iafallo as a base. If you are offering random former second rounders to supplement him, Luca Pinelli can become another irrational second round hope from Boston fans

Right now both goalies that we mention are both UFAs next year that’s all they are until otherwise just like Mathews. Leaf fans think they can get a bigger haul than what he’ll actually get if traded before 7/1.

With this trade for Ullmark I’m standing by what I said. If I’m not trading Vilardi 1for1 for Hellebuyck (that’s just me saying this). Vilardi sure shouldn’t be traded for Ullmark.

Also Vilardi does a lot more than just his silky hands. I don’t think you’ve actually watch him play.

1. Ullmark has two years left on his deal at $5m, which is one of the reasons I believe he’s appealing compared to other options. Cost certainty.

2. I’ve probably watched Villardi more than you because I actually watch minor league hockey. His hands are his special talent and frankly, it was a complement. He’s in the top 5 percent of all players in the world in that category IMO. Are you suggesting injury history or defense are not red flags? Defense can be developed and if he lives up to his offensive potential, they are red flags that are worth taking.

3. A good goaltender can lead you to a better place. Maybe it’s been so long that you forgot? Going with a lottery ticket approach with as good as the Kings are is a dumb, unnecessary risk.

I’ll keep it simple.

Kings are keeping 23yo Vilardi. It’s a mistake if they trade him especially for a 30yo goalie. They have plenty of other assets to trade. He shouldn’t be one of them.

Lottery ticket approach? What are you talking about? Blake inquired about hart and Saros. Kings fans know we need a goalie Vilardi for ullmark isn’t it.

I’ll add this. If Vilardi is traded it could be for a PLD or Mathews type trade. Just saying.

I’ve suggested that Villardi for Ullmark isn’t going to happen and Bruins fans should NOT consider that as even feasible. I wouldn’t do that if I were LA.

I’ve also suggested that Kings fans should drop the dream of Arviddsen being the base of any trade and the Bruins would look to unload his salary. The prospect would need to offset that.

I would suggest if Hellebuck were willing to sign for a reasonable number with LA, the value you’d give would be different

Yes I agree with all of this.

Arvidsson for me would be a cap dump for a goalie not a primary piece.
