Love Ehlers. Wish he could stay healthy. But how do you figure Seattle is looking for a winger?

KH picks up the phone asks you if you want more...

But the habs accept and throw in Norlinder and a box of 60 timbits.

I don't know the value of Nelson, but I think Seattle does that immediately.

Reports of them looking at Laffy and Garland. Figured might pay a little more and get someone much better

Maybe add a 3rd but that 3rd pick is insanely valuable this year.

To move to third in this draft? Yay, no. He isn’t even worth that and fully support columbus making that terrible deal

With that kind of retention that is huge value for sure, but don't know that the Canes would need that much. Not sure they want to move Nikishin in any deal though.

That Canes prospect was nearly ppg as a d man in the KHL. Hes a top 3 prospect in the league, And another 1st rounder is added

Ehlers has been injury prone so his value is lower than it should be. I could see the jets wanting to get anything for him because if he gets injured again, his value will plummet further

Lots of contracts to resign for the Canes with most of them wanting raises. Im thinking this would be a 3 year sprint for the canes and Nikishin still has 2 years left in Russia

I am aware of the Canes cap situation. Not everyone getting a raise is staying. I don't believe they will require this much retention. They might not need any. His value is already outstanding. Waddell has taken Nikishin off the table. Wouldn't give him up for Timo, so I don't think he's going anywhere. But I would still consider Conner a top trade target. I like Schmaltz as well. Keller, too, although he would cost a lot more.

Man those are awful for the Jets.

Connor retained for 3 years, which won't happen, gets more than a late 1st and a prospect the Jets don't need.

The Jets wouldn't target a tiny, longshot defenseman and a mid 1st. Seattle doesn't need wingers.

Hellebuyck doesn't want to stay in Canada and Brannstrom doesn't nothing for the Jets.

The Jets will get more than a turd pile for PLD.

Poor troll attempt. Too unrealistic.

Nikishin better turn out to be this star that analytics says he is going to be. His stats are great but if he is as good as the hype says it just means that they're better to trade Pesce or another dman to make room for him then trade him.

Habs take that

Ehlers likely gets more than that

God of Ottawa traded another first round pick for one year of a player that still doesn't get them to the post season, that'd be perfect

Nikishin is good but that long of retention would cost more. Not that the Canes are interested in paying for Connor or the high amount it would take to retain on him.

Due to the shenanigans that happens in the locker room, the player the Canes would be interested in paying for is morrissey. That is it. Most of the forwards available don’t care for defense, are locker room problems, and/or have injury problems. Helley is too old and we have pesce so, Demelo would be redundant

Click bait reports maybe. (?) Offense is not an area of concern, and Seattle certainly has no shortage of wingers who can contribute. Again, love Ehlers, but the fledgling Kraken aren't likely to part with high picks and prospects in a deal like this.

As a Canes fan I hate the idea of moving Nikishin but I think this deal might be a win-win. Jets get the best prospect in the league, as likely of becoming a top pairing player as anyone, and the Canes get that sniper they've been itching for. With that kind of retention, I think the Canes throw in a prospect like Suzuki or 2024 2nd rounder. I do think the other trades need a bit more meat coming back for the Jets if they're truly rebuilding. There's likely a few more cap dumps they take on as well.

Carolina don't need the retention enough to move Nikishin. If this was Morrow, the Philly 2nd etc etc, they take that, but Nikishin was off the table for Meier. While Connor is better, Meier's age and the fact he was an RFA as opposed to a UFA on expiry made him a little more appealing. Simply put, I think Nikishin is completely untouchable, no matter what. As you mention, he's one of the best prospects in the league. Carolina would need one of the leagues best players back. Connor is great. He's not enough.

The ONLY decent trade for WPG is the Scheifele trade. It's not great, but that 3OA pick would be nice to have for drafting or trading.
