MTL aren't trade for older goalies, but in this case, they accept and flip him for 14th OA from PIT

I don't see why both Mtl and Gibson will want that trade, like its good value habs accept it just doesn't make sens to get an older goalie

Ducks don’t accept that and Gibson doesn’t waive for a Canadian team.

John Gibson won't waive for any Canadian team.

Bertuzzi is seeking $7,000,000 per and Orlov is seeking $8,000,000 per. neither are signing that cheaply. Neither one is signing with a rebuilding Ducks. team.

No sense in paying Drysdale or Dostal that much yet.

I think that Bertuzzi and Orlov will each get at least $6 million AAV.

I don't think that it makes much sense to trade John Gibson if we're not getting a first-round draft pick out of the deal.

Poor Jakob won't get us much more than a fifth, if that.

I wouldn't play the young defensemen on their off side. And this construction shows exactly why our esteemed friend @GiggyWithGibby keeps harping on the necessity of signing a good veteran RhD comparable to Graves, Orlov or Soucy.

Not sure why a rebuilding Hawks team gives up a 3rd for a 33 y.o. pending UFA whose performance is obviously declining. Hawks pass.

Players can chase either Salary or Stanley's, rarely both. Bertuzzi makes sense to sign for us, even at 7 AAV. Orlov only if it's a 3 year deal.

Players either chase money or Championships. Usually can’t go after both. Bertuzzi is at the age where we can give him a deal that financially satisfies him, and can keep him around by the time the Ducks are back into the running

He'd only waive if he is being flipped immediately to a 3rd team with salary retention. But you are right that he would not accept a trade to MTL outright
