Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Doesn't mean that Meier or DeBrincat won't negotiate longer-term contracts with their current clubs but I find it an interesting scenario explore in an AGM.

1.
NJD
  1. DeBrincat, Alex [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Ottawa should probably be adding to this deal but just going with a straight swap for now.

  1. Meier, Timo [RFA Rights]
2.
NJD
  1. 2024 5th round pick (PHI)
FLA
    Ryan Graves signing rights
    3.
    NJD
    1. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
    Additional Details:
Haven't had terribly negative feedback on this deal. I'm quite fond of the idea myself so I'll keep rolling with it.
    COL
    1. Sharangovich, Yegor [RFA Rights]
    2. 2023 2nd round pick (NJD)
    Additional Details:
As an alternative to all the Hayes / Kuznetsov ideas floating around, try Yegor at 2C and Newhook at 3C (or vice versa) instead.
Could work out really well for the Avs.
    4.
    NJD
    1. Hall, Taylor
    Additional Details:
    Welcome home champ
    BOS
    1. 2023 4th round pick (NJD)
    2. 2024 5th round pick (NJD)
    Additional Details:
Pricing Hall closer to cap dump levels. I think it's accurate to do so given Boston's current cap predicament but could see reasons why this suggested return still is fairly light.

Big gamble for the Avs to go for Sharangovich as a C. Doesn't seem to have played there much at all in the last 3 years. Value is probably fine but a big gamble nonetheless. Also depends on his ask salary-wise.

With Yegor the best bet would probably be the QO for 2.05m then figure out what you wanna do with him long-term next summer as you'll still have his RFA rights.
In any case, Yegor does work at C because he's pretty good at transitioning the puck up the ice through the middle lane, decent at entering the O-zone with control and pretty good at taking space away from attackers in the slot.
The only question mark is if he can do all that at 2C level throughout an entire season, but with a team like the Avalanche he'd have every opportunity to succeed in such a role.

Bruins decline faster than you can say "Taylor Hall doesn't want to go back to NJ."

It's not that I don't want Meier (or even DeBrincat) but it is not what Ottawa needs.

They need to re-allocate all that cap into improving 2-way forwards and a 2nd quality goalie to support Forsberg

Id prefer to keep the Avs 2023 1st unless they use it on a high end player. I like Sharangovich but would rather use other picks/prospects instead of using the 2023 1st to get a less valuable player (meaning that hes worth less than the 2023 1st on his own, not that hes a bad player or anything) with additional assets coming back to make up for the value difference

I think Sharangovich would be better suited as a middle 6 winger rather than a 2C or 3C. Avs still need one of those to fill in for Landy/Rodrigues but I dont think it solves their center problem

I like Shargonvich but if COL goes that route it simply means all the other options like ROR, Hayes et all fell through.

The only way I see Hall dumped for cap purposes is if Bertuzzi has agreed to a pre free agency deal.

Went back looking at some older AGMs I made in the summer and came across these gems.
    Haha.

I personally thought they’d find a home for Grzcelyk or Ullmark for value.

I was wrong. They had to make one cap clearing deal and chose Hall. Bertuzzi also misread his market badly.
