Description

Not sure the value on Pesce, Canes fans seem to think he is the best Dman in the league so I probably didn't give up enough. Trade comes with a 6x6 extension for him. I tried to find a few cap dumps that can add some value to the team. Karlsson brings a winning pedigree and can play 2C until Kasper is ready, plus Vegas needs to shed a ton of cap this offseason. Not sure if Bailey can play center but it makes sense to take him if NYI throws in a pick. Wings need a backup so i signed a guy who can play 35-50 games depending on Husso.

I think one of Soderblom or Mazur make the opening day lineup. I think Kasper needs some seasoning in the AHL as well.

That's a good starting point for Pesce, but it's not enough. A middle of the 1st round pick and an early 2nd is nice, but seeing what Provorov got, who is undeniably worse than Pesce, I don't think you can even pretend this is close.

I think value is close but might want a bit more. I'd ask for DET first instead of Isles and can drop some of the other stuff. Maybe that's too much though.

I also think that 6x6 or something very close (maybe 5x6) get's signed in CAR for Pesce. If he's leaving I'd imagine some team is willing to go 7+ for him. I don't think he should get that but Severson and Gavrikov got 6.2 and 5.8 so that kind of sets the market, and if those guys got that I think he's looking at 7 if he's leaving.

Considering Carolina has Skjei-Slavin as their top 4LD, I doubt Johansson interests them.

The Provorov trade isn't a great comparison. When you actually break down that trade Provorov probably returns a 1st and 2nd without all the extra moving pieces. Philly ended up with an extra 2nd and a prospect to take on the contracts of Peterson and Walker.

Provorov is younger, has an extra year on his contract and has a higher ceiling IMO so a 1st in a deep draft plus a 2nd and a top 4 d prospect seems more then fair for Pesce, but as I said Canes fans are significantly over valuing Pesce.

Does the shot at Canes fans need to be in the first sentence of the description? Not all Canes fans think Pesce is the best dman in the league.

There has always been, and will always be, a big different in value for Pesce because until you have him, you don’t realize how important he is. It’s why Canes fans always complain about trades…time has now come for Pesce to get paid and this is where he see how important he really is.

I'm not a Rocket Capologist but wasn't Vegas something like 12 million over the cap this playoffs? I figured they will need to move a large contract to be able to resign who they need for next year. Cap space will be at an abosulte premium this offseason so I figured a guy like Veleno who can play 3/4 C would be a fair price to pay. I would be fine adding in a B prospect or a 2nd if that's what it takes.

Buddy "hiring mike babcock" is not a burn. if cancel culture didn't use him as a scapegoat for the leafs abysmal standing as a franchise, people would be drooling to have him coach their team. put some respect on the winningest red wings coach of all time.

Someone else will trade for Pesce, Detroit isn't gonna offer a top 10 pick and Canes fans evidently won't accept less based on the comments here
